Have an interview for a class 2 job on wed. They want 2 years experiance but i have only had my class 2 for six months. I have drove 7.5 tonne for 12 years doing the same work as the job im going for. Should i go for it and hope for the best?
Yep!!! What have you got to lose
Good luck
What happens if you get the job and ask to see your driving licence to take a copy? Do you think they won’t realise you’ve only had your ‘C’ entitlement for 6 months?
Good luck.
Say nothing and drive on.
Absolutely you’ve got to blag it, if you’ve been driving 7 1/2 tonners for 12 yrs then I can’t see any probs.
I would be honest
You have over 2 years commercial experience… so tell them that at interview,
Dont offer anything more unless questioned- if they go into detail then be honest with them about how long you have had your licence but stress your excelleant experience in other classes.
Be positive, enthusiastic and outgoing and you stand a chance. fib and they find out( which they will when they check your licence) and you have blown any chance of the job.
Cheers guys. I have every intention telling them i have only had it for 6 months in the interview but was just wondering if i would be wasting my time.
I would agree with blagging it if the facts weren’t there in black and white. Just don’t think dishonesty would be a quality an employer was looking for that’s all!
If you dont blag it watch everybody else blag it instead and leave you standing
Tell them you have been shunting class 2 motors and artics around a place where you work for a year or 2

What Rikki said. The 7.5 stuff counts as transferrable experience, unless the job you’re seeking is driving 8-wheelers. Most companies would be willing to give a bit of leeway on this to get the right candidate for the job; good luck.
NEVER deliberately lie at an interview BTW. Even if you do get the job, if you’re found out the employer can still get rid of you easily if the lie can be proven.
I wouldn’t call it a lie, I’d say it’s just being economical with the truth
Cheers for the feedback guy’s. its only 14 tonner so its not if its a big jump from the long wheel base 7.5 that we have so heres hoping.
Take a picture of your current drive, make sure you get the number plate, with the most recent tacho/printout you can get, to the interview to show the interviewing manager. Tell them that it’s smaller in capacity than that which is being advertised and let them decide if the experience you have fits in with what they want. Definitely wouldn’t lie and that bit of initiative might work in your favour. Good luck.

+1
I got a job a three weeks after passing my CE. The gaffer seemed quite surprised that I hadn’t tried to blag it and told me that my honesty impressed him more than if I had. Honesty is always the best policy… unless you’re talking to a copper.

This is a good idea, when I was put out of work I made myself an A4 flyer handout type thing with loads of pictures of stuff I’d driven and moved, it carries a lot more weight than just saying I’ve done this that and the other.
Tell him you’ve done abit of class 2 since passing but not much, the odd day here and there etc. Get across the point that you can do the job and know exactly what you doing, you already do it in a 7.5 so its not going to be any dfferent in a class 2.

No way! Do what Rikki suggests, it’s not lying, you’re telling the truth. There’s very little difference between them. Do not undersell yourself!
