Here are the thoughts of Harry Monk.
There should not be a vignette for foreign trucks driving in the UK.
There should not be a vignette for British trucks driving abroad.
All trucks should be able to drive freely in all countries without paying local tolls or taxes.
Any of these toll systems simply keep suited graduates in work, earning a living from those of us who can actuallly do something.

Exactly my thoughts published in here some time ago Harry.
All road tolls do is put up the cost of goods to the consumer.
First one to agree with me though unfortunately.
In an ideal world there would be no taxation.
We don’t live in an ideal world.
I do think that foreign trucks should be made to pay some sort of tax for using UK roads, the idea of a percentage of the UK VED paid on a daily basis sounds good, but then there is the situation of varying rates in the UK for different weights and axle combinations.
David, fortunately the Tankscheine was before my time, I only had the Zahlkarte and the 200 litre limit for fuel.
A clever Irishman showed me the system, You went to the Zollamt and declared 240 litres. They were so impressed by your honesty that they charged you a few marks and let you go without dipping the tank

all trucks should pay to use the motorways of europe in fact all vehicles should pay to use the motorways of europe including here in the uk.
.
Why? Wouldn’t it be better if no trucks paid any tolls anywhere in Europe?
This toll business is a European disease which I hope the UK doesn’t catch, just as I hope that we don’t catch the UK obsession with paid parking.
Salut, David.
no tolls would be the best way.
all the trucks pay road tax in their countries of origin
then we might get a better deal off the hauliers that we work for.
after all, this is only governments cashing in.
i omitted to say,
abetter deal wage wise.
