Tanker drivers used to take these kinds of off road training courses, or they used to, or some do, or did do (maybe some one could enlighten us)

even after 24 years on the road, I haven’t come any where close to this!
Well apart from trying to stop as i was approaching the scene of an accident on a wet diesel soaked road, thanks ABS.
Or maybe a brake test course, were you are in a fully freighted 44 tonner, how many have experienced a full on emergency brake test out on the open road, I haven’t in 24 years, apart from the above.
I think 7 hrs spent off road brake testing and corner testing pushing a truck to its limit would be far more benificial, than the crap they are trying to teach on the current courses.

Venue: MIRA Watling Street Nuneaton

Duration: 7 hours (7 hours towards CPC)

Format: Classroom and in-cab

Objectives:

By the end of the session the delegates will have a full understanding of basic terminology and be conversant with the use and non-use of ABS and to understand emergency braking techniques.

Braking, Loading and Roll-Over
Roll-Over Practical Sessions - with Trailer
Emergency Braking Techniques
Skid Pan Practical Exercises with Vehicle

That would certainly sort the wheat from the chaff, and there seems to be plenty of chaff out there these days!

It’s not cheap…unsurprisingly…but I doubt if anyone would find it dull or uninformative!
