Being self employed, I did not have to hand in any notice. But, being me. I gave 1 weeks notice at 05.30 this morning. At 12.30 ish, I was told to do the last drop, return empty to the yard, and clear the unit.
1 week notice = 9 hrs.

Did you already have such an agreement in place in your T&Cs? If not then why are you giving any notice at all? A simple “not available until further notice” would suffice.
Doing the decent thing, unfortunately doing so doesn’t trigger the same response.
I did the decent thing and gave the big Leicester based agency a weeks notice i didn’t need to do, they dropped me instantly, which given their attitude over time wasn’t in the least surprising, but i wasn’t bringing myself down to their level.
Always a pleasure to remind them about this when they pester one to work for them, not a hope.
