Quick question. If you trampers were parked up after 11 hours and then asked to take 15 hours off how would you react. I asked my planner to change my work for an earlier start. She did change it but got abit shirty.

it’d have to be a loverly steak and chips with peas and of course onion rings following on with
quite a few pints of flavoured barley and malt…point is you only live once enjoy the free time while you can 
I would think fantastic, I can watch the final three episodes of House of Cards and make a dent in the book I’m currently reading AND have a lie in. I always find plenty to do on my rest. Interesting tho that you call 11 hours a short day…good old transport.
Lol I’m in this truck 24 hours and I want as much of it paid as possible

How would I react? I’d put the phone down quick before she changed her mind, find somewhere decent to park, go for a pint and a decent meal, would be a bonus if it was a summer night.

When back at base we have to turn up at 6am for work. When tramping if i am parked outside a customer that doesn’t open till 8am i enjoy the extra 2hrs in bed. I definitely don’t cry over ‘losing’ 2 hrs pay.

I think he’s one of those trampers that likes to max their hours so they can earn the maximum possible wage, and has taken the hump cos they’ve asked him to work a short day and take more time off than is legally required, meaning he’ll probably have a lower wage next Friday.

The relief of a 15 off, i’d be doing exactly as above, somewhere quiet to park within a calm stroll of a nice pub that does good food.
Quiet pint after dinner planted in a corner and catch up on a good book, or while away a few hours chatting with whomever, keeping a beady eye out for any elegant nicely dressed ladies sliding by goes without saying 
, a brief time to recharge the batteries of normality before getting back in that bloody tin can.
