Went to Asda, Lutterworth yesterday with 24 pallets of Dog Food on board, they unloaded it (within an hour, LOL) & I waited 20 minutes for the paperwork, only to be told that the load was 89 items short (1 whole pallet)
Amazing that ! The Vanishing Pallet Trick !
They must have missed a pallet & instead of informing me straight away, they just put it away in the void of the warehouse, so it was impossible for me to double check.
The shift manager pretended to check on the ‘Puter’ but just confirmed that it was short. He wasn’t very happy that I was questioning them on the findings & I felt that he wasn’t interested & just assumed that as a little scummy driver, that I should just shut the F up & go away. The only thing I could do was to sign their paperwork with a note quoting that I disputed their count.
Has anyone else had this, where there is supposedly a complete pallet short ?
If there are discrepancies (especially whole pallets) they should leave the load where it is & get the driver to see for himself (that doesn’t stop them Ghosting Away one of the pallets) there’s potentially anything from a few hundred to a few thousand pounds worth of stock on these pallets (funny how this was only dog food & probably only worth a couple of hundred quid, maybe the supplier won’t question it too hard ?)
That’s the type of stunt I’d expect tesco would pull, not Asda…

Ha ha.
It might have been a mistake, trouble is- they’d put it away before it could be dealt with (funny that !)
Usually when I tip Asda I can see where the pallets have been put because they need to be checked & there’s usually no room to put them away. Tesco you can’t see anything so they’re likely to give you problems.
Had it before saying pallet short , phone office let them deal with it then crack on

That’s exactly what I did, but it still ■■■■■■ me off, the way DCs seem to get away with it.
If there’s a problem, they should invite the driver to at least count the pallets, not just put it away, then say “What do you expect me to do, check every pallet in the warehouse” if the driver’s not interested, so be it, then crack on.
I think it’s only fair if everyone takes a few tins of dogfood from asda this week see how they like it
I delivered to Tesco at Barlborough and they disputed the number of pallets delivered. The actual cases were correct and they scanned the right number of pallets as the serial numbers were printed by them on the paperwork.
As there were 22 pallets and they claimed that there were 21 I asked the pallet truck man which side of the trailer the odd pallet was. He said there wasn’t an odd one and went and counted them, which he discovered there were 22.
If Stobarts are that short of Cheps perhaps if anyone has any spares they could drop them off.
Exactly what waddy said, if there was an odd number of pallets on a truck, you’d notice pretty damned quickly.
I know where you’re coming from but ring your gaffer, write it on the notes & then once you’re gaffer says you can go, go.
Not worth getting stressed over some cretin in a DC. Minimal contact.
We had a full load of kegs missing at a Carlsberg depot, they were adamant it was missing (computer said it was) turned out the early shift warehouse guy had gone home with delivery notes in his pocket and not updated computer. The kegs were on stand trailer out side warehouse.
I used to load out of a large soft drinks company’s RDC in Northants. One night, around 1am they had a call from a guy who needed to get to hospital but “one of your trucks is blocking my driveway again delivering to the shop nextdoor”. They said that was strange as no deliveries are done at night.
A manager went off in his car to investigate. Apparently this driver had been stopping off regularly at his mates shop where they skimmed the top layer of packs off each pallet. They had been at it for years taking £1000s worth and nobody noticed. Hard to believe really but true.

They won’t notice, they nicked it from me in the first place. Lol.

A WOMAN, who stole almost £400,000 from her employer, will be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court.
Prosecuting, Tess Mann said Smith stole money, to the value of £398,651.26, from her Attleborough employer, between July and September.
“Watch out, there’s a thief about”, was the slogan and they still exist today.

I would have said " Lets watch the security video shall we " you’ll find that the bays are cam’d up for thevin
I had this problem in the 90’s at a large cash&carry in leicester,i tipped 24 plts of snacks (in the days of 24 plt trs)only to be told you are a pallet short, carn’t be it was a full load i said,i asked to use his phone (in the days before mobiles)walking through his warehouse to the phone, tucked away in a corner was my missing pallet,i was told afterwards that this was a regular trick he tried to pull.
There is in cab camera recording so why not tailgate door recording ?
It could record to hard disk via command from the cab.
Would be pretty hard for someone to dispute 24 pallets being removed from the tailgate if it was recorded.
