Shocking!

Dipper Dave might have a spare rubber gimp suit.

That is Shocking lol :open_mouth:

As you take your last step down grab the edge of the door (any metal edge, side or bottom) and keep hold of it till you hit the ground. Static will earth and you won’t get the shock. Car or wagon, same. Car is easier to grab the top of the door as you get out…

Should be shock free, what with the insulating properties of the suit.

Hmmm, some good advice. I’m paricularly leaning towards the rubber gimp suit though.

Could be worse though, I could be having a day as bad as the fella below!

Green & yellow laces

Now that ^^^^^ I like, funny and clever. You’ve been promoted to my favourite people list.

You are the clever one you gave me an excuse to skip the fuel Q tnx :sunglasses::confused: Should have kept that to my self. :unamused:

Tut tut. That weasel is operating woodworking machinery without wearing proper PPE.

Woodworking machinery…PMSL.

Do you sleep the proper amount of hours in a day? That has happened to me some days when I don’t sleep too much.

Change your underpants, or go commando.
When I say change your underpants I don’t mean at the end of the week, I meant try cotton boxershorts.

I get the same problem, bloody annoying eh. Anyway, I find that if I grab some metal part as though I’m trying to rip it off, it stops the shock. If I forget and touch door handle or something lightly, I get zapped. The gimp suit sounds like an idea. We’ll need pic’s if you try it.

Remember them rubber strips hanging off the back of cars and touching the floor that were standard in the 90s,try summat like that lecky legs

Earthing the vehicle does nothing - it may even make it worse because it is the driver who is charged up and he gets the shock when he touches a route to ‘earth’.

In computer labs, they do not allow staff to wear any synthetic materials because static kills delicate electronics. The solution is to change your underwear. While you drive, your trousers are held still by the seat cover, so as you move around, your pants rub against them. This is what charges you up. Materials like wool, fur, and some synthetics like polyester are good at building up a static charge. Cotton clothes (like jeans) don’t build up a charge as easily.

You get a shock when the current (many thousands of volts) jumps between you and the earth. As said above, you can see the spark if it is dark. Getting a good grip on a metal part of the truck, before your feet touch the ground will also help.

It’s a 64 plate Actros Santa, there aint no bloody metal in it! Well apart from the curtain rail which is where the spark jumps from to the top of my head!

Think the underpant thing is the way to go. My new swish Christmas big boy pants seem to be causing (or not helping) the issue. Back to my slightly shop soiled old boxers methinks.

I thought static electricity was caused by a bit of rubbing.

Your right, must be making a lot of friction while in the drivers seat

funny you should say that, cos I keep getting them at home when I touched the door handle in the living room I get a belt,my little cat keeps jumping as well cos I pass it onto her, after the third time with the handle I heard a little crack and I jumped back then got a bxxxxy pain up the finger, probably from the lorry and carrying it home with me,bxxxxy annoying

I get static when I get out of my car if I just get out and push the door shut,
so I try to remember to keep hold of the top of the door until my feet are on the ground, and then shut it…

and I very much doubt its down to friction in my boxers, I don’t think there’s all that much energy down there.

What colour is your cab Mr Maoster?

I went through a phase of getting ‘electric shocks’ from cash machine buttons, shopping trolleys, the white car I owned ( door window became the normal way of closing it). Sometimes I get mild static from the cat, but don’t know which of us is discharging the sparks).

…“sometimes I get mild static from the cat…”

You are right mate, there is some shocking ■■■■■ out there.

Well, that was shockingly predictable! :bulb:
