awful

bugger, just seen the other thread about it

Would suggest you read the forum a bit before starting a thread :unamused:

You would have though everyone who walked over to have a nose around would have actually tried to help the poor chap instead of just standing by him, gawping!

Judging by their body language, most of them looked to be in shock. I guess this is understandable given what they’ve just witnessed.
However, it would appear that none of them attempted to give first aid to the poor chap. Surely in this day and age basic first aid should be taught in schools?

You may have answered your own question …

No one might have any 1st aid training

It would seem that compassion for the fellow human has nearly all but died.
Previously I have stopped for people injured, even held a guys head whilst he died in my arms…Watched whilst another guy died of a heart attack.

Reality is, these days I just move on, do not get involved, it is far too much hassle to become involved with expectations from others and litigation it knocks it all on the head for me, I am walking or driving on by, it is easier and if I am to be honest, people on the whole don`t deserve anything these days, they are just greedy, inconsiderate and thankless, so why would I want to help them…Only exception is the elderly, I respect them and they deserve my help if needed.

What would you of done? Rolled him over and slapped him in the face? He was obvioisly unconscious, so god knows what injuries he has. If he’s got a broken neck/back and you go and try to ‘help’ your gonna make it worse. If you see someone unconscious on the ground and your not a professional, leave them and call an ambulance.

No no no, that sort of attitude is why people die needlessly. You don’t need to be a trauma surgeon to check that the victims airway is clear, you can open their mouth and clear obstructions ie, false teeth etc. It takes seconds to check if there is a pulse or if the casualty is breathing. If not, sort it. IMO, any damage I might conceivably do far outweighs the damage caused by either walking on by or even worse filming it on my phone. I couldn’t live with myself if I thought that a person died because I was too scared to step up and at least attempt to help.

Just checked the Mrs car for damage [emoji15]

Seriously though, that is shocking! I can’t even start to comprehend what the driver was thinking. Maybe shock made him/her panic, I dunno.

What the driver was thinking was “Let’s just drive down this town street at break-neck speed… Oops!” - and that’s thinking the best of them. :imp:

It takes a conscious act to drive too fast in a built-up area to start with, and another conscious act to not bloody well stop when you’ve not just “glanced” someone - but skittled them into the air for several yards…
There’s absolutely no way at all they did not realize both what they’d done, but also knew that in law they had to stop at this point. To drive away - is gambling being 100% guilty of a civil offence into being 100% guilty of a criminal one. Catch the bugger and lock 'em up in a hurry. This kind of deed is far beyond what one could consider a “mistake and it won’t happen again guv!”.
