Shocked in not a good way

As above,
I had a bit of time today so I thought id phone up an agency regarding class 2 work while im still working at Tesco.

I contacted an agency and they said pop straight in for an interview.
I had a chat and had to fill in lots of paperwork then I had a theory test. completed that then it came onto the pay.

PAYE or Umbrella.

If you went on Umbrella then you would be on £9.00 per hour.
I didnt want to do Umbrella so I said whats the PAYE and he came back with £7.50 per hour which I stood back abit.
He said thats the class C rate and even if you drive a van you would still be on this pay per hour :open_mouth:

Im a tesco dot com driver and im on £7.77 an hour.

Is this really what class C drivers get?
I was only going to do it on my days off anyway but I think this just makes me want to get my class C+E done quicker.

Im just shocked

There are C+E drivers out there who only get paid that much (or less). But by being at work for 13-15 hours a day, pretty much every day the amount they bank is almost reasonable (plus of course they get less opportunity to actually spend it).

depends on your location and the agency. you can try another one, they might have different rates

Really yeah PAYE… you wanna watch that as I had an agency try to set me up as PAYE through umbrella now work that one out.

I really think the umbrella system should be scrapped and it should be employed or full self employed. None of this BS

Sounds like a poor rate, and some agencies can vary by a quid for doing the same contract as another agency.
But as others have said, it depends on your area…

sounds like a ■■■■ agency rate to me! Go to another agency most offer around £10 an hour upwards , don’t be put off by this bad agency.
