Waste of time mate . I put a LWB LT35 and trailer on the road and ÂŁ50,000 GIT insurance to try to help my driving school at quiet times, all I did was lose ÂŁ5000 in 8 months company drivers doing it for cash in hand stupid rates that wouldnât cover diesel cost. Customers want it done for nothing and moan on feedback if you are late.
Thatâs what Iâm looking forâŚA few local parcels in the car. Wouldnât go to daft extremes.

Mike why on earth would you go and spend so much money doing that and why put a result behind the van given that you now need a tacho and olicence to operate vern donât forget they keep a percentage of the job thought you had to list your insurance on shiply these days. Rates are done for peanuts on there as you bid on many jobs Ata time to make a run up Iâve got some freinds who make a good living at it but its too much hassle for me personally to go at at though i am registered on there

Itâs very easy to register. They donât ask for your details, just do you have any? (Insurance)
On a job I quoted, it would have cost me just under ÂŁ5.00. Not bad. I only used about ÂŁ12
on fuel. I earned about the same as agency rates. I could have done a couple more, but 2 a day will do, just to keep my bonce above the wet stuff. 
And thatâs why rates on Shiply are so bad as thereâs too many cowboys (no offence ment vern) with out the correct insurances and veihcle insurance undercutting people who are set up properly

I didnt put LT35 and trailer on just for shipley, as I did research work from the 50 plus motortraders on the Marsh Barton Ind Estate. I bought a Motor Traders policy to buy and sale and transport my and other peoples vehicles. The standard traders policy doesnât cover the vehicles being transported full comp only 3rd party. This was no good for carrying Jagâs,Porsches, BMwâs etc. Main dealers would only give work if fully insured. Thought I would use Shipley for back loads only. Only intended to work at it part-time and if I got busy would put a driver on part-time. Sadly I enjoyed the work, good to get back on the road on my own, but it didnt pay. With hindsite its just a bad time for any new business, but might try again when things get better. A big local recovery company that was doing everything for nothing has now gone bust and I find the major dealers ringing me for quotes so maybe I should have kept my nerve just a bit longer. Still have a discovery and trailer but stopped the insurance.

I do have the correct insurance, bloody expensive too!
