Ok started work earlier and broke down it is 2 hrs 30 to the drop which will need to be done if the truck is fixed. Either way my shift loooks like it will extend past midnight however not drive time it will be other work as I’m coming home and leaving the truck there.
Is that a big deal as it goes into night hours? I read it’s then 10 hrs for 24 hours so is that 10 hrs in total until Sunday then as it’s Friday late evening now? If so can that 10 hours include more driving?
Driving home from your last delivery/collection will count as driving time not other work, and that driving time will count towards the daily driving time.
The accumulated daily driving time of 9/10 hours starts when you start in-scope driving after the start of the shift and finishes at the end of the shift regardless of where the shift ends.
You’re confusing this with the rules for travelling time when you’re not starting/finishing work at your usual depot, for EU regulations driving a HGV is counted as driving time regardless of where or when you finish.
I don’t like to be offensive but did you actually read this before you posted it ?
It’s Thursday not Friday evening and I’ve no idea where Sunday comes into the equation for the 10 working time limit for night time work
Anyway, the night time working time limit of 10 hours in a 24 hour period comes under the Working Time Regulations which are generally not regarded as important as the drivers tachograph regulations, so I would say that it’s not a big deal on the odd occasion.
Your driving time from the start of the shift to the end of the shift is a big deal so be careful
um its thursday
broadly if you go over 15 hours its an infringement. if you then work with out 9 hours rest at least in the following 24 hours its another infringement. ie if you get back 2 am friday morning you can start work again 2 am sat morning.
others will explain it better
he said he wont be driving back.
thing is though even if he is getting a lift or someone is coming out to drive the lorry back he will still be at work until he gets back to base.
My bad and I apologise to the OP as I misread the post
No, he can finish the shift at home as long as the travelling time from the lorry to home is recorded as other work
If he’s travelling from home to pick up the lorry in the morning that time will also need to be recorded as other work, however if he starts his next shift at his usual place of work the travelling time to work does not need to be recorded.
thats much better phrased sorry
Well at least it’s the weekend now for me as I’m not working tomorrow. It’s going to be a late one but at least I’m on an hourly rate
