Shift cancelled 30 minutes prior to starting

COOKiEEES!!:

SpaceCowboy:
that’s just the way it is as an agency driver and I would have to accept it.

This.

You’ve taken that quote it out of context it actually originally was written as:
I’m then told by the agency that’s just the way it is as an agency driver and I would have to accept it.

Welcome to the happy land (please insert extreme note of sarcasm here) of agency driving… where things such as “rights” and “employee respect” are to be expected as much as…

It appears sadly that your right about this, unicorns and flying carpets.

SpaceCowboy:
Obviously I told them I expected to be paid regardless

ahahahahaaaaa  provided me with a much needed laugh there mate, thanks…

Whats funnier (in a ironic way is the apathy) drivers must actually being putting up with being treated like this otherwise it wouldn’t be as widespread as it obviously is. To ask to be paid just makes commonsense, “maybe because people aren’t asking they aren’t getting”. I’ve worked within a number of different industries never had this experience before.

im in full time employment within the concrete industry deliving loads of concrete to sites and households many of time a load has been booked for a saturday maybe 3m worth or 6m but the point of the matter is that i went in on a saturday for this 1 load and the batcher phoned the customer to confirm the time and they said they didnt want it. i didnt get paid for that because i didnt take the load out sadly thats life. take like a pinch of salt. sh*t happens in the trucking industry. if you dont do the work why should you be paid. getting to the yard and from the yard is our expense not the agency unless they say so.

You’re an agency’s dream driver mate…crack on!! If the shift wasn’t booked out to you - you wouldn’t travel!!! If I turn up, they pay. If they don’t i would take them to small claims over it. If the shift is cancelled in the meantime, not my problem. Simple as that.

just saying how i feel thats all. dunno if u was sarcastic about saying im an agency dream driver.

If you ■■■■ them about they would kick off and refuse to book you again. Why should they get away with ■■■■■■■ you about?

Grow some balls and fight for what is rightfully yours! Don’t let agencies tell you what to do. They work for you not the other way around. Without drivers they don’t have a business.

    10 out of 10 Excellent post

I hope people that have posted previously on this topic, trying to excuse the behavior of the Agency, take a long hard look at your post and yourself’s, your apathy is making it harder for everybody else to earn a decent honest living.

I worked for Driver Hire’s Nuneaton branch for three months. The lad I used to deal with was sound then all of a sudden a woman started calling me. I caught her out with her lies twice. One time they told me the job I was doing the next day had been called off, they then said could I do something else.
I’d already done a day for the client a week before so had their mobile, I texted the guy about something only for him to say the job is ON. Typical agency, lied to get me to do something else instead of just being honest. After that I knew I could’nt trust a word she said again.
At least I had other work but I don’t appreciate being lied to. If I was you I’d find another agency, there’s a few good one’s amongst the bad. I would’nt buy that the job was cancelled either mate, they probably sent their golden boy there instead. Glad I’m in full time employment now though

Cheers for the constructive advice Dakota  I’m no longer answering calls from the Agency in question.
I’ve been lied to, too many times by them already to trust there integrity, it can only get worst if I remained with them and quite frankly I don’t need the hassle.

What a crock of ■■■■ some of you spout, would love to see you and your great big man balls get paid for a shift you didn’t do, if a shift is cancelled and it does happen then the agency don’t get paid either. As for last bit of bollox they may work for you, but I prefer to see it as partnership any other way and your gonna be sat on your ■■■ at home not earning

i used to go in wilkinsons through agency, and if they cancelled at the last minute, they would instruct the gateman to refuse you entry :smiling_imp:
i never got paid for a cancelled shift…so after this happened a few times,i told the agency to keep me out.
