thanks for all the info on severn bridge but how can they justify £14.30 for crossing wot a digrace should avoid the bridge (if we could )

They don’t have to justify it, you either pay up or don’t cross.
I would gladly pay double if they put the charge on the eastbound side, but I really do have to object to having to pay to get into Wales

That’s the whole point - “if we could”. They can set the toll at whatever price most people will be willing to pay. If the alternative were a quick run with very little extra distance, then it’d be cheap. Because it’s a long route round (if you’re coming from the M4 or further south), then they can charge a lot more because it’s still cheaper to use the bridge.

Yes, but you know the reason - when people are coming out of Wales, they’re so desparate to get out that there’s not a toll booth on earth that would stop them…
At the end of the day youve got to pay for the pleasure of visiting our beautiful country, where else could you go and see such beautiful country side so cheaply . Beware of the mobile speed camera who sits on the over head gantry as you go through the 50 mile an hour speed limit west bound just before the tolls.
Welshman is right, Wales is a beautiful country.
I often tip in the Rhonnda and then head up to Aberystwyth for my last drop- beautiful scenery, and a real driver’s road.
I often tip in Snowdonia too, and that’s as lovely a place as you will ever visit.
And let’s face it, at the end of the day, it’s not your money anyway!

We could always start a campaign to bring back the ferry

Scotland, Cornwall, The lake District, Norfolk…need I go on. And they dont charge us for the privalige. They are also substantialy drier imho.
It isn’t Wales that imposes the toll. It’s the Highways Services Agency.
