The toll to cross the Severn Bridge and Second Severn Crossing into Wales will increase again next year.
From 1 January, cars will have to pay £6.50 - up from the current £6.40 - while small goods vehicles and small buses face a 30p rise to £13.10, and heavy goods vehicles and buses will have to pay £19.60, up from £19.20.
Bridge owners Severn River Crossing PLC increase the cost every January in line with the Retail Price Index.
Calls have been made to cut the toll.
More than 25 million vehicles use the two bridges each year.
Funds from the tolls are used to pay the construction costs of the bridges.
The Liberal Democrats vowed the get rid of the tolls if they are in government after the 2015 general election.
There shouldn’t be any Tolls on bridges or roads in the UK. The government in this country should take over the Severn bridges and charge nothing to cross them. They want and need the business and goods both sides of the Severn, so why penalise the hauliers and the public.
Tax Exempt Vehicles 12th September 2014 Currently the Severn Bridges allow free passage to those that have Tax Exempt vehicles if those vehicles are used for the transport of registered disabled and this is reflected on the Tax Disc. From 1st October 2014 the DVLA will no longer be issuing Tax Discs.
If you wish to continue claiming free passage you will be required to either show your tax disc, if it is still in date, or your V5C form proving that your vehicle is tax exempt because it states Disabled in the Taxation Class.
There will be no change for those that are in possession of a valid EU Personal Blue Badge.
Failure to produce the relevant documentation at the time of crossing will result in the appropriate Toll being levied
Please Note Motorcycles and UK Disabled Badge Holders are exempt from Toll charges. Also there is No extra charge for towing Caravans / Trailers. However, all vehicles must stop and be classified individually. Motorcycles are only able to use lanes with Toll Collectors in them.

Probably all changed now then.

I understand the bridge has to be looked after but with the amount of vehicles using it everyday they are making a fortune,no doubt they have shareholders they have to keep happy,
Fulham FC:
Personally I’d just close the bridge and keep the Welsh in their rain sodden country .
Aye, but you only pay if your’e going into Wales. Free in the other direction boyooooo… better just to close Wales… sell it to the Irish as a potato farm or something… or turn it into a penal colony.

Big mistake was the NO vote, and Scotland will regret it sooner rather than later …
