ok…so we as drivers are expected to go with the flow regarding unsociable hours …however where do you draw the line?
the agency wanted me to do two day shifts this week then revert to nights wed thurs fri…refused the job and in all fairness they offered me alternative work[day shift]
just wondering would anyone of done it …ta
Nope
No. But then I’m not agency material
That’s a standard shift pattern. I did 4 on 4 off comprising 2 days and 2 nights for years.

Yep thats agency work for you ,i dont think its an unfair ask to be honest m8,better than nowt,i bet theres another agency bod jumped at the chance and he will get the first phone call next time
I have been back at work for 2 1/2 weeks and getting backshift Thursday and Friday then dayshift Sunday to Tuesday (early morning dayshifts) which I always refused to do. The contract was my choice to go onto and I literally walk to work so I am accepting it for now. The money I a big incentive since its the best rate with a 45 minute round trip so I am tolerating it for now even though I am constantly exhausted
Well before I started driving, I did a bit of agency work and they once called me at about 8 o’clock at night and asked me to do a night shift at a factory. Bearing in mind I had been up all day anyway, I turned the job down. Never heard nothing else from them again until a couple of months later when my p60 came through the post.
Bloody agency are all take take take unless you put them in their place from the start and take no BS from them.
Plenty of agencies out there and I’m sure some are great but I have been with two and been shafted by both so I refuse to do agency work again. That’s just me though.
I remember a driver employed by Mc gregor cory distribution who hated agency drivers, kept mouthing off at them until one agency driver said in front of this muppets friends that if he opened his mouth again he would have trouble doing it 5 min later, result, mouth shut and even his little mates didn’t want to know

I did the same shift pattern for a few years too - I thought it was pretty good, to be honest. Certainly better than the awful pattern we had before that!

I think we all get that. They are usually a minority and their colleagues recognise the fact that we passed the same test as them including assessment by THEIR driver trainer. Pointing out that there is no special category on their licence for their particular company tends to shut them up

When Walkers crisp’s started collecting potatoes on their own vehicles one of their elite drivers was giving it all the spill of " I’ve been trained up to drive this special truck to carry heavier loads… " quite funny to ■■■■ all over his super big ego when I said I had to be trained to come down to his level to drive a normal truck
I wasn’t popular on Monday because I got a long run up north. One of their lads picked me on my way in yesterday and I mentioned it and he said he had heard about it. He reckons the guys who were moaning were probably the same ones who would refuse to do that run
I have also been told that a particular shop should only be done their own drivers because its a bit tricky. These guys want to try multi-drop on main roads, back alleys and residential areas if they think a tight service yard is tricky
Most drivers accept that we are all doing the same job.
Dragging the thread kicking and screaming back on topic, I wouldn’t do it as I found changing start times midweek left me really washed out but then I’m not fussed if I get work nowadays or not
