Seven bridge tolls

going up this year again but not a lot cars £5.40 to£5.50 small vans up to 3.5 tones stay the same trucks £16.30 up to £16.40 not a lot but still more expence that has to be coverd

There shouldn’t be any tolls on bridges or roads in this country,the goverment are taking a fortune of hauliers and moterists in the amount of revenue charged on fuel,let alone the cost of the licence.The severn bridge has always been a rip off,its a shame everyone didn’t boycott the bridge for a couple of weeks and go around Gloucester.

One of our guys did that because he didn’t have any cash for the tolls (or in his bank)

The office went absolutly mental at him

(we don’t have any tags at all)

He could always do as one of my workmates did when the boss hadnt topped up the tag. He signed the paperwork and the boss had to pay an extra £5:00, he will pay the :smiley: tag on time from now onwards.

This rise is apparently to cover the increase in VAT ■■?
Funny how they never dropped the price when the VAT was reduced ■■?

I was going to get a TAG but as the price works out the same why should I lend them my hard earned cash Interest Free, ■■? :imp: :imp:

I though they did, after lots of protests :wink:

saves a lot of time queuing at the toll booths :smiley:

edit: found it :blush: the original increase last year was going to take the toll to £16.60 but they reduced it to £16.30 because of the VAT

Normally travel between 01:00 and 03:00 = no queues … I was looking for some financial benefit for paying upfront :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

If you get a seasonal TAG it works out about £112 per year cheaper, no good if you only use the crossing occasionally, but for daily use about 60p per crossing cheaper.

The prices should be coming down, they have easily paid for the cost of building that bridge.

From Severn River Crossing PLC Annual Report

A H MOORE

Chairman SEVERN RIVER CROSSING PLC

DIRECTORS’ REPORT

=================

The Directors submit their Annual Report and the audited Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2008

BUSINESS REVIEW AND PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

======================================

The Company was formed to take over the operation and maintenance of the Severn Bridge and finance the outstanding debt and to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain the Second Severn Crossing.

Revenue from toll charges is being used to repay the debt finance and both Bridges will revert to public ownership once the project’s required revenue, as defined in the Concession Agreement with the Secretary of State for Transport, has been collected, subject to a maximum Concession period of 30 years. A Business Review is included in the Chairman’s Statement. The Directors expect continued growth in turnover in the forthcoming financial year.

Theoretically eventually it returns to State ownership ■■?

I dont suppose following the Dartford X-ing example it will ever be FREE though ■■? :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
