Setting up tv in the cab

Any recommendation s on a television and arial to get set up to watch some tv on a night out. Have you fixed yours and what size would you suggest. I currently am using a snooper for the tv but thinking of changing to the Tom Tom truck 5150 so will obviously lose my tv option when I sell it on eBay. Any help or guidance is appreciated. Thanks Paul.

I got a 16" TV from Currys around Christmas time - cost me £84.99. It comes with a DVD player, USB input, HDMI, AV etc etc. For an aerial I got a small vertical one from Ebay, which cost about a fiver. The TV runs from 12v, and I use a power supply from Maplin to power it, to get a steady 12v supply. I fixed it at the end of the bunk, using one of the storage pockets - I cut a piece of chipboard which fits snugly into the pocket, then screwed a VESA mount onto it, and fixed the TV.

The one thing I’ll probably change at some point is the aerial - 80% of the time its fine, but other places it won’t find any stations, or if it does, they are too broken up to watch properly.

Tv is totally a personal choice. Antenna is basically have a look around at what other people are using. I use a Avtex sth2000 runs on 12/24v and uses a suction mount on the side window. Costs around 40quid off fleabay or from good caravan places.

Same spot on aerial +1

I bought a 16inch 24v tv with built in Freeview and dvd from Comet about 3 year ago for about £140. I had a Daf XF Super Space Cab at the time and had it mounted on a piece of wood strong enough to hold the mount and tv fitted 2 slats to the back and it slotted perfectly into the storage space above the passenger side door. It run off a 600w inverter which the garage lads had fitted near the fusebox and I had an Omnimax arial attached to an extendible carwash brush handle just chopped off the brush and made a mount for the arial and used exhaust clamps to attach it to the back of the unit and it all worked perfectly, plus I could lay on mi bed and chill out and watch the box at RDC’S when I was there for a fair amount of time

I like the ‘freeview’ bit, you have it good over there in so many ways. On our last two visits to the UK we rented a cottage with Freeview and were very impressed, my son who still resides there complains about his 45 quid a month TV / phone / internet combined service as being too expensive, he also has freeview… we have to pay a staggering $280.00 a month for our combined Internet / TV / phone service FFS.

Asda have 12v Polaroid tv’s think there 16".Think it’s £80.
Or if you have a B&M near you. There is a 22" tv that’s 12v. For £110 or £120.
And I also use the avtex ariel.
£35 from alconbury truckstop. Not inside but were you fill upmost outside the gates.
I got a round pole from an old wardrobe. Clamped ariel on 1 end and run cable down middle. Then shoved the sucker bit that comes with ariel in other side of the pole. Just stick it thought sunroof on my tgx Xxl. It just lifts it above my trailer. Never fails to get every channel. Used to have it fastend on back before but sometimes you couldn’t get a proper picture.

How does mifi work(what would I need) I have an iPad three that I tried linking to my iPhone 3GS but it wasn’t having it and apparently it eats data? Can you give a little more info on this pls, also thanks everyone else some good info given.

I pondered this one, and in the end plummed for a portable DVD (Argos, 40quid), and I record programmes I want to watch onto DVD at home and take them with me, (all be it you have the facility to record TV onto DVD)

You can guarantee you are never parked up to watch your fave progs anyway.

mifi works by transmiting a wifi signal from a sim card dependent device. in which you can connect up to five devices the one I use is on the three network. Also what you are trying to do is teather from a mobile to a device which as i am led to beleave you can only do on an I phone 4 and above and that is dependent on what network you are on as most wont let you.
