Service Station Etiquette

People use their instinct when deciding whether to donate something to someone, I generally don’t give change to beggars in the street but every so often they’ll be one i’ll feel especially sorry for. The chap in that video asking people in the restaurant didn’t look remotely homeless or in need, just annoying and like he was taking the ■■■■. The homeless chap who gave him a slice was probably just opted to keep the peace, having already had his feed - it’s easy to donate stuff you haven’t paid for.

No offence to the op but you sound like a bit of a fud

Lot of members here must be in the salvation army or are talking out of there arse

You need to do one to qualify for the other

Lot of members on here listen and regurgitate stereotypical ■■■■■■■■ about people they pre-judge without any real knowledge or experience of also
If you think I talk out of my arse I couldn’t give a ■■■■ frankly, but it is based on what I know and have experienced, not by jumping on some kind of bandwagon.
I have met Easties that are arse holes granted, but on the other hand I have shared THEIR “Camion Stew” with a couple of others in the past.
Now where’s me trombone

My experience of Romanians has been overwhelmingly bad and its personal. Not from the sun or life on the dole.
Do the salvation army still go round pubs selling there newspaper not seen that in years

a few years ago you wouldnt of had this problem or if you did there would of been english lads parked up with you that would lend you a hand

OK mate you are speaking from your experiences as I am from mine, I wasn’t suggesting you were a Giroman or a Sun reader for a minute.

Yeh you mean “The War Cry”, I’ve got a few copies if you want to buy one, and we are looking for a good trumpeter if you’re interested

Not really in Salvation Army, but yeh, ok, I have been known to talk out of my arse before now

Still don’t know how ya managed to get a pizza in first place!? I tried dominios in Abingdon asking em to fetch a pizza down to the lorry park the ■■■■■■■■ wouldn’t!! They said we can’t just fetch pizzas to random car parks we need an address!!!

Easy mate, I gave the truck stop postcode. Problem solved:D

Wouldn’t have given him jack ■■■■■■ Stop under cutting all the euro work so much and he would be able to afford his own pizza. People saying o yea I’ll give him slice. Half of ya wouldn’t even help out a fellow countryman if he had a flat let alone share your personal size pizza with him.

So it’s the driver’s fault that his co do the job cheaper :open_mouth: If your co undercut to get work would it be reasonable for somebody to blame you, or act towards you as if you were somehow personally responsible, I just don’t get that train of thought. I can’t stand Stobarts but I know and speak to a few of their drivers, it aint their fault that their firm’s heads are up their own arses for example.

For the record being old school I have helped out with flats on numerous occasions in the past when drivers actually stuck together and had to do more than steer.
A driver is a driver fellow countryman or otherwise in my opinion.

kr79:
Quite a few romanians where i work and from personal experince i find them not a nice nation of people full stop.
The days of hungrocamion and men from behind the iron curtain been knights of the road is long gone. Any i seem to come across would rob you or do you wrong without a second thought and i wouldnt give them the steam off my urine.

quite a few eastern europeans work at my firm (not drivers, they are digging gangs).some i’ve known for a good number of years ,and are superb fellas.my mate is on holiday next week so i have a hungarion bloke with me,he is sound as well,i’ve worked with him lots of times in the past.the only blokes that nobody gets on with are the romanians.very arrogant chaps .although i’m sure there are lots of really nice ones,i havent met any yet…

Yes rob ‘when’ drivers stuck together. Didnt say I was blaming that driver but if you can’t afford health feed yourself out on the job then don’t go!!! O I got a better idea let’s all go out tramping for a month or so and not take enough food to last or any money to buy food!!? Yea great idea. Always make sure you got a few tins of something hanging around the truck

Over here if I see someone at the side of the road or struggling at a truck stop I either offer help or call em up on the radio and check but on the uk it’s the every man for himself attitude. Yes ive been stuck broken down in Germany and France and not on offer of help before you say anything

I think the not stopping is a sign of the times in that you dont often carry a spare wheel and in the event of a breakdown firms dont want drivers making repairs or makeshift fixes and its a case of make a phonecall and wait.

I know we moan about the poles tekin the jobs & that but most of them I’ve spoke to ave been sound as a pound like they realise it’s our manor & are just happy to be here.

I wouldn’t be larging it to a foreigner in his own country that’s for sure.
