You could try ducking the issue by speaking Welsh. He won’t be able to make out what language you are using
It obviously means you’ll have to learn (some) Welsh yourself.
Try this:
Dwi ddim yn deall un gair unig ti’n dweud. (I don’t understand a single word you say.)
This:
Esgusodwch fi os gwelwch chi’n dda, ond rhaid i mi bwyta ag ar ôl, cysgu.
(Please excuse me, but I have to eat, then afterwards, to sleep.)
Or this:
Cer grafu yn y cornel y chwanan budr. (Go scratch in the corner you dirty flea.)
Swearing in Welsh uses too many English words, so you’d be sussed because Welsh is such a polite language…
A similar thing happened a few years back to me, only i was sat eatin butties and salad when a romanian driver knocked and asked if i could spare a sarnie in so many words, i obliged he was chuffed and repaid the favour by knocking the ■■■■ out of a diesel robber during the night he even kept him there till i opened my curtains what a fella
If the Romanians are that poor and need to beg for food while over here they should not be allowed in the u.k in the first place.
All other poor countries drivers seem to manage without begging
its not begging as such mate, the countries they come from they look out for each other this is something we sadly have lost so dislike it when they ask for help, as we jealous that they do stick together i think
Not going to say OP was right or wrong cus each situation is differnt but I would have been tempted to share.
Couple of reasons, if the bloke is hungry enough to ask for food he is [zb] hungry, also helping a fellow driver out is the way it was.
Different cultures have diffferent ways when it comes to sharing and helping out.

+2 I don’t mind sharing especially when I’m weekended out on the mainland. The small offer of a glass of wine and a bit of cheese is a proper ice breaker. Chances are you’ll be the only brit parked up and I’ve found most foreign drivers to be very generous in return. I guess its a case of when in Rome. Either that or sit or your own bored out of your skull
I dont do Euro, so quite frankly do not give a ■■■■ about their cultures and/or differences. I was in a British Truck Stop with majority of brits parked up in said services. Also is it a cultural thing to be threatening if said no to? Its put me right off foreign drivers. As I said I dont deal with them in my line of work
jamiemufu ok there good and bad allover but trust me tell these commi tw…s to f… right off they think they quite the kiddies now running round spouting we Europe now we have rights used to meet old school Romanians drivers 2up in a old Romanian/man .good guys f troop .u done the right thing but next time put the tw.t on his ■■■ the second they start spouting crap then leave wish id been there with ya m8 cant stand the robbing/stealing commi bas… ooh im not politically correct l.o.l
Should have told him to ■■■■ off. It’s their own stupid fault for working for £2.50 a month not to mention that they’re partly the reason why the pay rates in the UK have been largely static for the past decade.
What did you have on the pizza
The smallest Domino’s pizza you can get delivered is about £11.99. Not a cat in hells chance i’d be sharing that
I’m not surprised by what happened to you Jamiemufu.
I’ve been working for some time with Polish and Romanians and have watched behavior of various foreign drivers in our truck stops.
Polish are nice blokes, helpful, polite and very similar culturally to us, never had any issue dealing with them , yes language skills not always the best, but that’s not what counts in determining what type of person you are dealing with.
Romanians on the other hand, well, different culture, they are after all, like the country they’ve arrived from.
Those Romanians that have been living here for some time, are getting civilized bit by bit, although it’s not an easy process.
Most cement mixer drivers (if not all) working for Hanson Cement in London, and in some other parts of the South East are Romanians, and if there were other nationalities working there doing same job, they quickly leave, and other Romanians come to replace them, that in itself says something. Some of them are plain rude.
And as for asking a stranger for a slice of a pizza? Would you ever consider doing it?
If someone offers it, fine, but asking a stranger? No way.
Quite a few romanians where i work and from personal experince i find them not a nice nation of people full stop.
The days of hungrocamion and men from behind the iron curtain been knights of the road is long gone. Any i seem to come across would rob you or do you wrong without a second thought and i wouldnt give them the steam off my urine.

Seen a few shady characters like you’ve described near your yard in Stratford. I deliver to the German Deli place near McGraths and they seem to work at many places near there.
So a fellow driver is desperately hungry… enough to offer to PAY for some of your scran, (ok admittedly it maybe wasn’t what you could call everyday normal behaviour, but who knows it may be in Romania) and your first reaction is to… “Want to knock his ■■■■■■ teeth out of his head” Yeh? Seriously mate?
Then he mentions this ott reaction to his mates, as he would, and you wonder why they give you a “stink eye stare” (whatever the hell that means) and they don’t speak a word of English? I mean, they should all have got a good kicking for just that alone
You say you are all for helping people, ok, why did you not give him the Pizza firms phone no, as you said he didn’t speak English, so how do you know that was not what he was asking for in the first place , or do you speak Romanian maybe?
Read Gezt’s post, he has got it spot on.
Some of the narrow minded and generalised comments on here are unbelievable from you and some others on this thread about foreign drivers, I don’t remember getting the type of hostility illustrated on this forum from foreign drivers when driving in their respective countries, in fact the only hostility I did get (surprise surprise) was from a lot of British drivers in this country, when I was in UK driving a left hand drive foreign registered truck, when they thought that I was a foreigner, but as soon as I opened my gob revealing I was a Brit, the big brave he men (yeh right ), backed right off.
So all Romanians are beggars and thieves, and all the Poles are heroes, what is your in depth analysis of the Dutch, Belgians, and Germans then?
I can’t wait
The dutch all dope smoking ■■■■ feinds belgans cant drive and mayonaise on chips whats that about. Germans arogant pigs.
well thats what the stereotypes have taught me all the people i meet driving there lorrys are eastern european.
shame he didnt have his wife or sister with him , you could of had a trade off for a slice of pizza?
