Seriously?

switchlogic:
Im with Rob K and Farnborough Boy. Run up ramps are a licence for bad drivers to couple up badly and roughly and cover everything in grease. Nolan Transport used to cut all theirs off. I have run up ramps but they don’t get used, and my mudguards dont have a mark on them.

Its all well and good if you pick up your own company trailers where everyone has the same 5th wheel height but if your doing ferry trailers and have a high uk spec 5th wheel you need run up ramps… Its not practical to get out and start dumping the air and winding the legs down… And to add i use to drive an MAN without run up ramps and never put a single mark on the mudguards!

i was talking to another driver who was a bit older than me [in his fifties]he was saying about an interview with the aa as a recovery patrol driver, when they asked him about his experiences as a driver and what could he bring to the job his reply was that you are never too old to learn and that he was allways willing to learn new parts of the job, that is my attitude to the job as well,as regards this young bloke with attitude,as other drivers said he will learn in the end if he keeps costing his employers money through damage

You pretty much contradicted your first statement with your last. For me its always practical to pick up and drop trailers properly and look after my truck. Unless you’re picking up 20 trailers a day its hardly that difficult to do it properly.
