I love reading about all the old firms on here, but i keep wondering did they make any serious money or just a good living ?. I wonder who did well amongst them all ?.
i’d hazard a guess that most made some serious money - I know plenty who made a packet doing european work upto 1993
well i certainly earnt well and with yer other bits and pieces yeah
good living put most of mine into bricks and mortar reaping the
benefits now. but i will add there are some drivers who earnt the money
but what they did with it i have no idea and they are skint now 
I remember reading an interview with Geoffrey Cave Wood and how he had to duck and dive and how the business was built up, most of the Euro hauliers were the same I think.
I know my old boss made a lot of money as his property portfolio was massive, from running 25 complete rigs down to 3 or 4 old trucks on traction only before he finished.
He is dead now but his family were well provided for
