Hi guys, I know I ain’t the most popular on here with some. But I have been offered an ideal job.The downside for me living in Devon, is the job is in Birmingham. I will need to be on call for this vacancy, so returning to Devon nightly is not an option. Does anyone have or know of someone willing to rent a room to me? I will be in Europe a lot of the time, it would just be for the odd night whilst on breaks. I will return home to Devon occasionally.I don’t drink or smoke and am meticulously clean. Away from here I’m very sociable LOL.

Renting a room on a weekly basis and using it now and then is a bad option, if its for one day a week maybe two the try and book in advance and you should be able to achieve £19 per night at travel lodge etc. for that you get a nice big room with your own ensuite plus free parking for car /unit or whole outfit if it will fit. :wink:

Because it is on call…There may be days when I’m sat around for 3 days and then away for 12 days for example. At least the room would be paid for and I can leave my gear!

YMCA have seven sites in Birmingham, might be one in a good location for you.

A mate of mine has a similar job, he traded in his car for a cheap clean campervan which he keeps in his employer’s yard, the price of the trade in with the free parking worked out cheaper than long term rent, and he can drive home in the camper at weekends. If you don’t want to part with your car, what about a cheap clean old caravan? Just an idea and good luck with new job,…even if you did once tell me I wasn’t your mate (I’m sad with a long memory :unamused: :laughing: ) Mr Popular! :laughing:

good luck with that vern, I am on euro work, and i’m renting a room now & letting out my flat. Works out cheaper. Lucky i can afford to as a caravan in the yard was the least favoured option.

I’m actually in the position of taking 1 of 2 offers. The Brum is an immediate start with unknown ethics and practices. The other is for someone I have worked for previously. Just waiting for the start date to be announced. So I’m doing the Brum for the foreseeable future.

As it turned out…I knew the guy in Brum I went to see. The job is Switzerland twice a week. Ad hoc work for the last 2 days. Easy work and back on the Sprinters. Result! :sunglasses:
