Sending license off to DVLA

Hi, quick question.

Last week I sent off my D2 application and Cat C. pass certificated to the DVLA along with note explaining that at present I am working as a freelance bus and coach driver so require to carry my photo card with me when driving, as well as having to show it to most companies when driving their buses.

Then today I came home and found a letter with the D2 and pass certificate stating that they require the photo card.

So my question is where do I stand on driving if I do not have the Driving License, CPC Card and Digi card with me? And do they really need the photo card to be sent in, never had to send it in when changing address due to working as a driver.

Hope this makes sense.

Dear DVLA, I have lost my licence - cost £20 to replace

Hi NFK, don’t worry about the photo card issue. Any company can now see your license details on the GOV.uk website.
You sign in, create authorisation for them and then get a link to send them.

Pain in the bum for the 2-3 weeks it could take to get your license back, but it does mean you can show them your entitlement to drive.

Link is valid for up to 21 days, BUT, can only be used once.
Meaning you would need to generate a new link for each company, but you can create up to 5 in one go.

Have a look here for more info

The problem with the DVSA licence check is that it doesn’t show a picture of the licence holder, so while it can be used by companies to check licence details it can’t be used to check the drivers identity, so there’s a chance that any company who doesn’t know you will want to see the licence card

Question is why are you sending your cpc card and. Drivers card? Surly they’re not all out at the same time, these all have photo on. And if your not in possession of your cpc card I don’t think you can work anyway as it has to be carried when working.

You also have your DQC and tacho card which contain the same identity information, including photo and driver number, as the licence. So they can verify your identify matches the licence details on the website.

If you don’t send your licence photocard back the DVLA will charge you the fee for replacing a lost card.

You’re right about the DQC and driver card, I never thought that through properly did I
