The title of this video is “Bourton close-pass 18.09.2021” but in my opinon it should be titled selfish cyclists nearly get themselves hurt.
I have nothing against cyclist and I’m not excusing the car drivers actions but what do these entitled cyclists expect when they deliberately block roads like this.
Apparently the police sent the car driver a letter advising him/her about their driving but in my opinion the cyclists should also be warned about their cycling.
Yeah, and it’s only going to get worse after Saturday, they’re already “entitled” in the negative sense, how many of them will read the bits of the Highway Code that says: People cycling in groups The updated code will explain that people cycling in groups: should be considerate of the needs of other road users when riding in groups can ride 2 abreast - and it can be safer to do so, particularly in larger groups or when accompanying children or less experienced riders People cycling are asked to be aware of people driving behind them and allow them to overtake (for example, by moving into single file or stopping) when it’s safe to do so.
Far too many of them are already contemptuous of Rule 71: You MUST NOT cross the stop line when the traffic lights are red.
The car coming the other way was just as close as the car overtaking.
The cyclists should have gone single file when seeing the car approaching. That would have made the gap for the car overtaking much greater.
Politics of envy reclaim the streets Barmy Bolshevik Bicycle army.
The whole agenda was all there in the reclaim the streets ’ protests '.
A bunch of useful idiots thrown a bone by the employer classes which has now got rid of the decent car expectation in wage demands.
Instead of which they are out at all times of the day making a nuisance of themselves on their zero hours and universal credit incomes.
I guess what bugs me is that cylcing was meant to take cars off the rode. I can almost be 100% certain that they are just doing this for a hobby and probably all have at least 1 car.
You dont dress up like a ■■■■■ to pop to the shops.
Also I am sick of how many cycle paths or shared footpaths there are that cyclists just ignore because they want to stay on the road.
■■■■ cyclists.
Motorcycles can be annoying but at least they dont slow down traffic to a crawl when some 70 year old pensioner thinks it is a good idea to try going up a 5% incline hill on winding bit of road with zero safe passing areas for 5 miles. Yea, it might not bother him because he gets his pension regardless but some of us work and dont want to spend 10 minutes staring at his sweaty wrinkly old ■■■ in the hopes he will fall over or get tired and lay down.

They have nothing to complain about, because like said the car coming the other direction is the same distant away as the overtaker.
They should be riding single file on that narrow lane…
Must admit, whilst watching the video I was waiting for some major incident to occur, as already said, the car coming the other way took up as much room as the overtaking car did. Even the lycra clad cycling brigade in view didn’t appear to be phased. In my opinion, changes to the highway code just means more money extracted from motorists and gives the moron element of society the right to rule the roost.
Just been reading about the new highway code rules that come into force tomorrow & it says The cyclist can ride anywhere in the road they feel safest.
"Under the latest changes, drivers will have to give priority to cyclists, pedestrians, motorbike users and horse riders who are waiting to cross a road the driver wishes to turn into.
Additional rules include: all traffic must stop for pedestrians waiting to cross; cars indicating to turn left or right must give way to cyclists coming from behind and going straight on; cyclists can ride wherever they feel safest, even if that is in the middle of the road; drivers must wait for cyclists to pass and treat as if the cyclist is a motor vehicle; and poor driving decisions are more punishable with local authorities able to prosecute driving in box junctions and failure to give way.
Under the new hierarchy of road users, pedestrians are placed at the top, followed by cyclists, horse riders, motorcyclists and cars. Vans, HGVs and buses find themselves at the bottom of the list. fleetnews.co.uk/news/compan … 1-000-fine

The Highway Code has been turned into a contradictory Highway anarchists’ code by an unfit for purpose government.
Give way to buses leaving a bus stop only if you’re driving an HGV everything else has priority over buses.
Do not overtake through junctions, but subject to the same hierarchy of road user priorities in which case you can/should overtake/undertake turning traffic at junctions.
The rule regarding zebra crossings now applies everywhere but we’re keeping them anyway regardless although they are now meaningless and pointless.
Give way to pedestrians waiting to cross’ when turning into a road is just there as a catch for a laugh in that regard.
Hopefully the new rules will provide an incentive for many drivers to give up driving and use …the bus instead.
Bloody ludicrous ain’t it. Petty minded jeffing idiots being awkward for the sake of it. Maybe if enough get run over and squashed, these morons will end up seeing that they lose every time. Then I s’pose pigs might fly.
Problem is everything’s caught on camera these days like your video.
Car van truck driver does something wrong they can easily be traced as they have a number plate.
A cyclist goes through red lights undertakes trucksetc it’s all filmed and put on you YouTube
Yet there’s no way the cyclist can be identified hence why they do it.one option maybe bikes have number plates so they can be identified
the two habits that wind me up are the cyclists that insist on putting the bike in the lowest gear possible and barely pedal when you cant safly over take then soon as you can safly pass they are up on the pedals going like the clappers. You can tell the ones that are going to do it because they never look over thier shoulder.
Second issue and this happends so often i wonder if there is a rule i am unaware of. there is a cycleist or group there of in the cycle lane your coming up to queueing traffic at a set of lights then at the last possible second the cyclists decide to swerve in front of you so they can go down the outside lane and then carry on straight while waiting at the lights with everyone else despite the fact that the cycle lane they were using is compleatly clear all the way to the cycle refuge at the lights.

Yep. When I did my last theory test for HGVs back in 2015 it said give give cyclists much room as possible. Watching that video, the car did and they overtook as quickly as they could so as not to be exposed to danger, ie: cars coming the other way. Absolutely nothing wrong, beyond a bunch of lycra louts who think they are above the road rules.
Its only horses you aren’t supposed to speed past. So effectively the highway code is contradicting itself.
Btw, have these changes actually been backed by law changes? The highway code is only supposed to be a leymans terms version of the relevant laws not contrary to those laws.
As a sidenote, the stopping to let people cross junctions, will just result in loads more rear endings especially in busy places where people assume the car will keep going and then it suddenly stops. Genuinely stupid.
I’ve just re.joined the Cyclist posse, just got my bike back from a service after it being sat 2 years in my shed.
So you ■■■■ s in your ‘thundering juggernauts’ best give me plenty of room, as I’m thinking of joining the ‘headcam nazis’ and become a road marshall.
Me and my daughter have a bike ride planned one day this week when I’m off.
So this week I’m going to buy some lycra to show off my manly physique.
And talking about getting hurt as the thread title…,.a gel seat cover to protect my undercarriage.
trevHCS:
Btw, have these changes actually been backed by law changes? .
No.
It only says “should” ( let pedestrians cross at junctions) not “Must” therefore not backed up in law.
Should v must is a grey area.
Should is routinely used as a method of apportioning blame and as defence against prosecution
It’s no mystery that it can/could also be equally used by the prosecution.
In this case the premise of the court will be on priority according to the vulnerability hierarchy and why such priority hadn’t been exercised in the event of a collision.
In the case of pedestrians that priority applies everywhere in all cases not just junctions.
The nature of these new rules shouldn’t be underestimated.
