Apart from the fact there is no HX9 postcode area, they won’t get many parcels delivered in the other
areas mentioned when there is snow on the ground.

That’s what rates are I’ve seen much lower than that per day.

got a phone call from DPD last week after a friend told them i was looking for work cheeky gits wanted me to pay them £3,500 up front to use thier 7.5t to do thier deliverys as self employed on similar rates the this just put the phone down without a word

The thought of them flapping on then you just hanging up made me chuckle…

This is one of those “pay to go to work” jobs.

There’s even problems with getting in-work benefits when doing this kind of “work”. :open_mouth:

The bit where it says “Major courier experience need only apply” - is trying to get some bullcrapper type applicants who can think “Hey I can do that!” only to be trapped by their own lies later on, when they clearly didn’t understand what was involved, else they wouldn’t have bothered with it.

Having spoken to van drivers working for the large courier firms - they’ll be starting around 4-5am and finishing around 19:00 in the evening, plus running out saturday mornings.
Their gross pay is around the £1000 per week mark - BUT you take out your van cost, the fuel for that van, and the fact that if you’ve worked around an 80 hour week - the hourly rate @ £12.50 gross is rather rubbish really.
It’s the self-employed ability to claim back tax for the running of expenses that pushes the takehome pay back up again - but FFS - Who wants to work 80 hours a week for less than £1000 NET in any case? :open_mouth: :frowning:

Most HGV drivers do them hours for worst wages

Maybe. But they are not liable for damage, break downs, quiet days (no work/parcels, etc), fuel and tyres, business rates for the yard, insurance, or paying for a replacement when they get ill.

Getting half that, to sit on my arse and look out of the window, not so bad…
