I assume you mean can you put claiming for accommodation in another town while your working there.
just pay for the digs with a company bank card, get a receipt and put it through the books.
Then at the end of the accounting year it will probably be offset as a business expense, how do you think the attendees of the TNUK Xmas party are able to fund the night at the premier inn.
Paying for the digs in cash will make the accounting trail a little harder to follow

Are you limited company and do you use an accountant or do it yourself .

It’s not hard if you have an ounce of common sense. My Mother acts as my ‘book keeper’ whilst simultaneously looking after my Son one day a week. It’s a remarkable coincidence that a years worth of accounts costs the same as a years worth of child minding.
On a serious note, I went on a short course at my local evening college (which I offset) and got a book (which I also offset). I’d sooner be in a position to know what I can and can’t claim for rather than have to rely on an accountant who may have limited knowledge of the industry.
Last year I think I hit about £22,000 before I had to start paying tax although I do do a fair few miles to and from Jobs which bumped the figure up.
The simplest answers
matty c:
Are you limited company
Yes
matty c:
do you use an accountant
Yes
I use an accountant once a year to do my tax return and file the minimal (zero rated) NI/PAYE requirements on a monthly basis that came in the last year or so
matty c:
do you do it yourself.
Yes
I do my own book keeping, invoicing & VAT returns
I have been quoted £600 from an accountant.

£600 for digs? is the accountant running a B&B?
your posts don`t make sense, what exactly is your point …

I doubt youll get a true comparison, comparing the cost of doing your accounts once a year with say that of a self employed builder down the pub who only gets charged £150-£200. I have read here on TNUK figures of £500-£600 for doing the accounts of a Ltd Co Driver, but those figure can be regionally driven, and factors of what exactly the accountant does for you for those fees, so I doubt you
ll get an accurate comparison unless you compare like for like in the same area
However someone using an umbrella Co could easily expect to pay fees in excess of £1000
Quickfile is free to do your own accounts.
They charge £200 for doing the year end stuff for companies House.
Google it, sound daunting but easy when you get into it. The help answers most question like this one.
No sleeper 40 quid per night you’ll need repeipts though sleeper cab provided 23 quid per night or there abouts

it appears to be a little over complicated, & has more feature than the average driver requires.
I have a mis-trust of 3rd party software, because it always has a catch.
AFAIC a basic excel spread sheet can give you many of the features required to manage the accounts, cash flow etc, without the need for 3rd party access that doing it online with Quickfile.
Invoicing, cash flow & timesheets can be done using excel, inputting the data the same as QF does and it will calculate the total figures. To send the invoice to the client, just save the file as a Pdf and email it. Using the TAB`s at the bottom of each excel sheet allows you to label each weeks work (week 1, week 2 etc) copy/paste the bare template onto the next TAB (week 3, 4, 5 etc) will allow you to keep a linier week on week timeline.
Any accountant can easily work with excel files, but remember to regularly back up any files in case your pooter goes ■■■■ up
Pierre - See what you are saying, i find spreadsheets a lot more complicated than a specific accounting tool. Not a dummy on a ss either.
Think a lot of it comes down to what your accountant wants.
The catch with quickfile is they want to do your year end accounts. At £200 considering it. If not just print off the info at the year end and pass it to another accountant. What you send to companies house and what is on your books is never the same thing after a good accountant has been around it anyway.
Hi I’m a newbie, just wanted to know if anyone knows owt about Pml accounting… Think they’ve screwed me [emoji17].

A little more detail may help
Who / where they are, what they do for you, fees, fee / payment structure etc
Edit: a quick Google shows they are an Umbrella/ MSC provider.
Reading their brochure download shows they offer the same services as every other Umbrella Co

MSC provider looking like they’ve just been clobbered by HMRC. Expect letters and probably a tax demand in the coming months.
I pay my accountant monthly £46 per month. For this she does everything needed. Including monthly PAYE requirements. I just provide a spreadsheet at the end of each year with my bank statement with comments column describing what each item is.
I do another spreadsheet for cash payments where I number each receipt and enter it in the relevent row of the spreadsheet.
Takes me 20 seconds each receipt, and about 2 hours work at the end of the Financial year to export the bank statements and add comments.
