Selby, what's goin on?

Going from Doncaster to just before Scarborough today so took A19 north up to A64 then A170 to my destination, simples.
Got nearly to Selby where the A19 goes around the town, usually no problem away you go.
Not today, York was blacked out on the signboard just like a vandal had done it , then a diversion sign which I followed. Said diversion took me south and east on A630 A645 A614 then M62 for one junct. And up towards York via various B roads and ending in Escrick which is thankfully close to A64
All the signs I saw had York and Selby sprayed out which looked weird but that said diversion signs got me there eventually it’s just that it would have been quicker via freakin Berlin!
Rant over, anyone know what problem is in Selby.

Think they are putting a roundabout in at a19/a63 junction just after Greencore? Been like that couple of weeks now. Sure read was lasting 6 weeks?

The A19 has been closed so they can put in a new roundabout at the junc with the a63, been closed for ages, think its around 10 weeks in total.

Thanks for your answers chaps, I never saw any advance warnings and I’d come up from Donny on A19.

The signage is very very poor for this diversion. I use the A163 from Holme on Spalding Moor to Selby regularly and the roadworks had been on about 3 weeks before they even bothered with a sign saying no access to Selby.

I’ve heard some hgv’s have been using the light vehicle diversion through Barlby but the police have got wise to this now and are keeping a look out!
