Another fine British disaster… :unamused:

How on earth were the likes of Foden, ERF and S.A. to name but a few ‘allowed’ to cease.

(Nice truck BTW)

Great to think some`one has the same opinion as myself , well said Lusk !!! .

Not sure about the S A bit.

It’s fair to say the general impression is that ERFs are reliable especially with their ■■■■■■■ & Eaton gearboxes. Thanks all for your constructive responses.

M11, Twin Split and Rockwell rear axles = (was) a blinding combination.

To be honest even if they are ‘well used’ (which at that kind of age they most likely will be) a ■■■■■■■ M11 is hardly going to pose much of a problem to a resourceful African diesel fitter, so you’d probably be all right. But if you’re exporting them does it matter if they’re shagged anyway as long as you can get them to the docks?

The only problem being that I am not sure a resourceful fitter out there would have access to diagnostics?

I’d say that’s why you buy ERF, you don’t need diagnostics!

I bought an EC8 because it has a manual pump - no diagnostics whatsoever

the blue ec with the purple roof in the background of the first pic was in good order, it’s a 14 litre ■■■■■■■ and belonged to an o/d in calne Wiltshire,

Marvellous trucks! Lovely and simple. We’ve got one that we use for rollover practice. I’m positive if we chucked some diesel in the tank, oil and water in the engine she’d fire up in an instant.

nick2008:

Well it was very clean in the cab before it left England ,you wouldn’t think it was that old ,Id be over the moon with that .

Off topic but have you seen that bloke in the Renault turbo star that’s about 20 years old pulling a curtain. Catalonia or some such.

Seen a 20 year odd old v8 there as well recently streamline.
