Securing Unattended Trailers

Franglais:
The pin locks we use need a tubular security key, so difficult to pick, plus the mount is free spinning so very difficut to hammer, lever, cut, or grind etc.
Heavy casting so no welds.

I’ll have a look to find pic on web

Looks like this.

Have to admire the spotlessly clean rubbing plate in those demo’ pic’s.

Just use the parking brake, then thieves won’t be able to move it.

I think if you uncouple the trailer they wont be able to move it. Because the trailer wont be coupled up.

I think

Depends where you are dropping them…laybys are frowned upon, because they are after all a place to rest for a while…and you should not be dropping them on a public highway, don’t think you would have put that on your application for an O licence, but in any case its ok for a short period with the odd trailer…always leave the doors open though, in case you get a nice crook who bothers to look inside, before cutting the curtains.

I think the simplest method I have seen is running a heavy chain through the rear bumper bar of a trailer and padlocking each end to a fixed post or cable. Gefco had this in Rennes

Thanks for the info everyone.

We are going to put up gates on the yard so not such an issue now.
Will still be using the kingpin locks as well for what they’re worth.
Cheers
