Mobile data isn’t totally secure, I certainly wouldn’t use it for internet banking ect…With every major bank…
Utilising mobile apps for banking, they must feel differently.
Doesn’t mean they are right tho.

Secure internet for me is incognito with the cab locked, festooned in latex gloves and a snorkel.
VPN (virtual private network) is about as secure as you’ll get. I use VPN hotspot shield. Allow easy access to internet connections in other countries and you can set your ISP address to any country /location you like…

…and it has a pass code same as a house set up
We seem to accept our houshold modem must be secure as it has a pass code…right? Or should more consideration be given to VPN just to be on the safe side?
Any other secure methods of accessing the Internet?
Vpn is generally a waste of money.
4g is secure enough.
If your using free WiFi hotspots you may want to consider a vpn.
That’s my take anyway. I certainly wouldn’t pay for a password manager.
Vpns are great but often are overkill. It wont protect you from computer viruses due to downloading silly things or going on dodgy sites and tbh that’s more of a risk then someone shopping on you via WiFi.
That being said I don’t do banking on my phone because I don’t want to risk it.
I think the biggest risk is with phones atm is losing it or it being stolen.
Well to me it’s about how you as an internet user percieve risk on your own data and personal data.
A few folks on this post have said they won’t use a mobile app for banking. Fine, I can understand that and I take their point. Now look at it this way, you call your bank and speak to a person, you give that person the same details to verify who you are, that an app already has, each time you make a phone call you have to confirm who you are to a different person. So efectively if you make 1 call a week in a calender month, you’ve now shared those details with 4 or 5 different people. To put this in context you are now trusting a number of people to not pass those details on. Aye right of course it doesnae.
By default you do, because you are speaking to your bank and they wouldn’t do that. Hence why most scams to extract money from you are done over the phone. Usually starting with a “you are due a refund” type statement. So you are sucked in to pass on details you wouldn’t normally as you “think” I’m getting something out of this i.e. money.
Another angle to this, is I suspect 99.9% of posters on here are paid by BACS direct into their bank account. Guess what, those payments are made via the internet. But they are encrypted.
Apologies for the Carryfastesque type reply.
I should add secure internet access is a myth.
I’m a complete apple fanboy because (rightly or wrongly) I believe they don’t generally have security issues so I just tether my MacBook or iPad to my iphone hotspot. Because I’m on EE I get a great signal and over the years have got my allowance up to 25gb by asking nicely [emoji4]
Also, my kids have both got 20gb allowances which they usually don’t use all of and as their contracts are tied in with mine (I pay the bills [emoji57]) they can donate data to me if I run short!
Maybe something to consider for you and family members to consider when your contracts end? Link them all up? As already said, 4g is about as secure as it gets I think and tethering is a POP to do.
