Second Bus from First Bus

Second Bus from First Bus hits the same Bridge. How do you not see a sign telling you its an 11ft 9in Height ?

Love the headline! Was it the last bus from First Bus? :grimacing:

I’ve never seen a double decker bus that would fit under an 11’ 9" bridge

If youve seen the standard of driving from First Bus that will come as no surprise…

They also have a habit of hitting the one in Cook St in Glasgow from time to time.

That’s a rather shaky peg you’ve hung your coat on… :grimacing:

That’ll be due to their lack of selection process and the calibre of people they employ.

Oh and my driving standard was fine thanks. I’m not one to take offence though

Being a bus /coach driver with a 28 yr unblemished record i applied to first for a driver position when they were advertising for drivers. At the same time my 18 yr old son applied for a position for a trainee bus driver.

I got a reply from them saying i did not fit the required criteria

My son got the job as a trainee driver.

No wonder they hit low bridges on a regular basis if someone with all my experience doesnt fit thier criteria

As I only live about 10 minutes from here, I’ve been under it many times… It’s nothing short of blindingly obvious…

However in the area they don’t run very many double deckers, so maybe just in a world of their own while driving…

Or maybe they forgot to do pre service checks upstairs lol

That was actually one of the bosses from another depot that did that, poor guy died a month or so later.

I applied a few years back for their Railair operation at Reading, got as far as their assesment drive at Willesden and was told if i got the job id need a week in their driving school - didnt get the job :grimacing:

How in God’s name does the driver not realise when he’s approaching it …uh oh “that bridge looks a bit low. I better slow down and have a bit of a re-think”.
Whenever I approach a bridge that is OK but maybe a little too close for comfort, I slow down & have a quick recheck that I know my height etc. Unfecking believable :unamused: Just imagine if some poor git was on the top deck!!! :open_mouth:

“The exact cause of it is being investigated and the appropriate action will be taken as a result.”

I’d say it was fairly obvious as to what happened…

One good thing about Stagecoach is they taught us no matter what we’re driving always take a low bridge through the middle and to this day even in my coach i still do
As to how the driver did it, probably a single decker route and it got substituted with a 'decker

But he didn’t just hit the bridge, he drove right through it!
I wonder how fast he was going to take that distance to stop.

It’s not all bad though. First Bus can use it for open top tours!
