On Thursday 10th April, between 8.30 and 9.30am, Bill Daniel, who drives for B L Trigg Transport, was travelling on the southbound A50 in Derbyshire, near the Toyota factory, when he suffered a stroke at the wheel. He had managed to stop his truck and get out of the cab, when he fell to the ground into the path of traffic. Unable to move, he was trying to flag down some assistance for what seemed like a long time, but the only person to stop was a fellow truck driver, who stayed with Bill until the ambulance arrived. All we know is that his name is Pete and he was wearing a Mill Transport top.
Bill’s family would like to contact the mystery driver so they can thank him for his lifesaving actions. If you can help, please reply here or email us on TDreaders@roadtransport.com and we will pass on the information. Thanks.

Well good on the trucker that stopped and shame on those who carried on round him, hope his recovery goes well.
We’ll done driver but a sign of the times I’m afraid.
Thats brilliant news, i hope old bill recovers, and a lot of it is down to that Knight of the road.
Glad Bill got the help he needed.
On another sad note people are afraid of this claim to blame world we now live in.
You often hear driver arrested whilst investigations take place and people are in such a rush , Waiting for an ambulance then the police get involved etc etc etc people just don’t want to get involved and at times you cant blame them.
I know of a driver that stopped at an RTA to protect the vehicles and injured placed his vehicle at an angle, a further accident happened behind him plod turned up and was trying to blame him for the 2nd accident, arrested and 4 hrs later let go with nothing to answer for, poor bugger almost lost his job but now has the attitude of I didn’t see anything its nothing to do with me I’m off…

tell me about it, and it was only about 10 yrs ago
There is also the court hearing. You lose a lot of money if the case drags on and you are required to attend because you do not get to claim your full losses, only what they say you can claim and I think loss of earnings is up to about £80 per day. I lost over £300 in January from having to attend court as a witness.
I’ve dealt with the police very briefly, at two “Incidents”. First time, a knob head officers shows up and was a right jobs worth, rude too. All I’d done was come across the scene and made sure the guy was ok.
Second time, they were fine.
Best just to say you didn’t see anything.

I hope Bill makes a full recovery and I agree with baldbloke about those who drove around him.
Next Wednesday I have to drive from near Preston, Lancashire to Chichester, West Sussex (about 300 miles) at my own expense to attend a court case. This will involve considerable fuel expense, the best part of 2 days and a night’s hotel stay.
