Sea spitfire, hurricane or what is it

i saw this fine looking plane at membury service at first i thought the wings had been removed for transporting but they actually fold into that position. does anyone know what it is?

could be a seafire, the naval equivelent of the spitfire. I believe that had folding wings for storage on aircraft carriers. It certainly looks like a spitfire nose with RR merlin engine and spitfire wing design.
in my opinion the Merlin engine is the sweetest sounding of any aircraft engine.

it did sound good but did it sound as good as a v8 scannia?

Or could it be one of these?

I think that is a Spitfire with the wings removed for transport. The Fleet Air Arm Seafire III had folding wing’s but not like that. Compare the landing gear wheels.

Wouldn’t they upset the diehard World War II stalwarts? Flying a Spitfire with a Japanese Engine in it. :stuck_out_tongue:
