I ask cos it’s the 3rd time they have had vacancies on the JC website for Scunthorpe. They are either expanding well, or can’t keep the drivers.

You’d not get rich on the night out money though…

I’d love to find out which it is. I would go for it, but I have applied twice and heard nothing back so I don’t think I’ll bother for third.

Actually, bugger it, I think I will.

I have seen the ad for their bedford branch on the JC site a couple of times, I’m not sure which it is, either lose the drivers or growing the business.

Just a thought they might get of every driver at the end of the six month point and just get another driver, not sure if there would be any advantage in doing this or not, but it might be they are letting each temp contract expire and getting new people in each time a driver is got rid of

You could always ask the people at Flixborough - 01724 867556

Well, I’ve just had my “Six month review” at the JC.

If I get a job now, the Govt will give the employer £500. Then another £500 after a period of time. Hmmmm smells like Grimsby to me.

And just as an aside, IF I find a job and the employer is able to wait while I do any training, there is £1500 available to THEM to train ME.

LOL, I went mad, I told them I could get my Class 1, ADR and poss a FLT if they gave me the money. I’d not need to sign on for a long time after that.

The first time I applied, I rang about it. I was told someone would get back to me, but never did. Ok so they will be busy. I applied in writing after that and to be fair got a compliments slip with a letter of “Reject” Second time, nothing.
Maybe I am “Over Qualified”

There was a bit in our local about a Class 2 driver job on the bins - which I applied for - they had 260 applicants for one post. So thats a rough idea of what I will be up against at any application.

Yes,the Jobcentre is a source of amusement to me as well.Common sense says that if they will pay for any training they should do it now.Apply for a job that you are not qualified for, explain at the interview that it may be sometime until you are qualified and if they don’t mind waiting etc…who are they trying to kid?I once walked into a Jobcentre with 300 CV’s that I had prepared for posting and asked for help with stamps, what a waste of time that was. That’s what you get when they employ someone with a job title “Decision Maker”,someone there is actually called a Decision Maker.
