Scrapbook Memories (Part 1)

ROSSER OF PONTLLIW.

This photo was one of several used in a magazine article about ‘Rosser’ in the late 80s.
There were a few of these wagons still on the fleet, some even older than this one,in plain red with no signwriting.

They were well maintained and the, generally older, drivers seemed happy enough with them.

Great photos Dai, love the ones of the Rosser brothers, I would have loved to sit down and talk with them. True legends of the old time transport industry.

I’m sure Larry Dunbar will have more info on this old beauty. Baxters were a very well respected firm on Tynside,
they amalgamated with Waugh transport in the late 60s. When I started for Waugh’s in 1972 there were still
quite a few of JB’s old hands still working. They all thought he was as close to a god as you could get.
Regards Kevmac47.

hi, kev. i think baxters were second owners of this type 8 legger also there was only 8 of these made. Imperial Smelting
company of Swansea Vale were last owners.

Early one sided curtainsider? . . looks a tadge high for a tilt
Looks like a load of panels out of Autoprime ?
Cracking pics as ever bubbs, talking of Autoprime . . dont suppose youve got any pics of Howard Tenens motors? :stuck_out_tongue:

Spardo:
The colour scheme on that last Foden looks a bit like Fredericci, the Swiss company who became Foden agents there after the takeover by Paccar. They were already Kenworth agents and ran a fleet of them in Switzerland but I don’t remember them having any UK reg motors.

seen that foden parked up at a farm near woolhope hereford, used to run across the water
