hiya,
You’ve just put years on me, NITS were still using these Leylands when i did my first spell for Killingbecks the dad Robbie was the guvnor in those days and a lot of their work was pulling NITS trailers.
thanks harry long retired.

You never cease to amaze Bubbleman! Do you have any background on the cutting or where it came from?

The F12 ‘On the Hook’ is BFJ960T which was driven by my Uncle from new. Stuarts still run a similar recovery outfit & I’m not sure if it might even be the same chassis with a later F12 cab fitted. Somewhere I have a photo of it at Gaydon last year.

Would you mind if I add it to the A.E. Stuart thread?

Regards, Andrew Stone.

Hello again,Andrew …please help yourself to the pic of the wrecker…the pic was lifted from a Volvo brochure which covered spare parts etc,I would imagine the picture was set up as Volvos dont break down
Todays stuff.

If any have been put on before…never mind

Cheers Bubbs,

Good stuff again Bubbs. :sunglasses:
I wonder who operated the Colvilles Seddon,I know Allisons contracted for them.Maybe they had their own transport?

I’ve had some lifts in those BMCs of Wilsons from Sheffield when on a dodgy (or two).

hiya,
Drove this model of Seddon on the BRS always found them very good and no more likely to fold up on you than anything else i’d driven, I liked them i don’t see how you could load this any differently the position of the coil is correct
thanks harry long retired.

Hi again, heres something I meant to put up the other day when I had the brochures out,its one of my favorites…so if you like Scammell Crusaders then this should be of interest. :sunglasses:

I wonder how many of these firms are still going.

Cheers Bubbs,

Thanks for this post bubbleman - some really good pics and information - excellent!

HI Bubbs, having to do a bit of catching up so going back a couple of pages, loved the article about Bert Swift and his fleet of Guy’s. Although he was running during my time around there, strangely, I never knew of him at all, but reading that I think he would fit the mold of many old timers I did have the privilege to meet. Despite some having very set and odd ways or beliefs, their word was their bond and they would more likely do you a good turn than a bad 'un. Sadly, I can’t say the same of some I met in later years, :frowning: Anyway I will spread your gospel further, if I may, by posting some of your work to other threads, just in case anyone may have missed them!

Hiya Bubbs you “Star Man”, boy your going to turn a couple of old Pickfords/BRS hands into blubbering wrecks with this last post of yours!!! I never would have thought that many different firms ran Crusaders.Although I never had anything to do with Scammell Iv’e got to give credit where its due for their production of a cracking advert at that time.I didn’t see one of Pickfords (Sheffield depot) featured!!!Excellent work Bubbs, you just keep lifting the bar ! so what chance have we got! Regards Dennis.

Marc those Crusaders are fantastic I didn’t realise how many firms did run them and it makes it harder to understand why B L introduced the Marathon so soon after when they had a product which would do the same job and in my opinion was superior having driven both ( the Marathon only odd trips ) when they could have developed it and given a wider choice of engines to an already decent product.

Cheers Johnnie
