hiya,
My memory must have gone completely if i can’t remember being in the company of a gorgeous young filly like that and thats strange really because i can remember quite a few old boilers that i’ve been in the company of over the years, most of them i’d rather forget, but your spot on would much rather be doing a spot of handballing with the mini skirted maiden than driving even a top of the range Scania let alone the Seddon,
thanks harry long retired.

Hello again, good banter lads,I was in two minds to post the pic of Harry with the mini skirted girl…could have brought on a heart attack for the poor old fella!  .

Thanks very much, Marc! And what a great selection today too! I remember the test of the John Raymond motor: it set a fuel consumption record for the CM Scottish Run, and which was unbeaten for around 5 years! If I remember correctly, it was finally beaten by the DAF 2300, although I think that was actually at a lower average speed.

The Atki was £7300, thought operators kept buying them cause they were cheap, how much was the more glamorous foreign motors at the time.

Hi all, heres some more cuttings

Hope these are of interest.

Interesting stuff on the Crusader - it’s good to know they had the leaking windscreens right from the start - it used to drip right into the lace holes on your right boot!

You should have worn wellies Steve, like all the BRS drivers wore regardless of wether they drove a Crusader or not!! However the BRS wellies did have an “L” on one and an “R” on the other, before this mod was done they were always getting them on the wrong feet!!! Bewick.

We did get wellies supplied free ! and safety boots, I used to get brogues too for going home on a dodgy, when i couldn’t make it to the Sunset

I thought they had “S” and “G” on 'em - stop and go.

Sammyoposite always used to walk funny, is that because there were no markings on his wellies?
