Don’t be hard on the Lad “altitude” I think he was the foreman and his grimace was just as he lost his footing and landed on his a*** in the slutch,he should have let the Trader’s regular driver make the pose!! just because he was the foreman and had a tie on!!! Bewick.

Theres nothing wrote on the back of this pic to say what MSA it is,now between us all we’ve a few million miles under our belts so anybody know where this is?

Cheers a poorly Bubbs,

How about Knutsford Services ■■? Get well soon Bubbs mate. :open_mouth:

When I first saw this I immediately thought of Leicester Forest, but then I noticed there are only 3 lanes of traffic on the motorway, whereas now its 4 lanes wide both sides.Has it always been like this?
The area seems much too large to be Knutsford.

It’s definitely Leicester Forest East, drove past there yesterday. The trucks heading into the southbound services. Where the big R is on the tower opposite has now got a KFC sign on it.

Cheers, Nick.

Hello Ian, A.F.A.I.R. the M1 was mostly if not all three lane in the 60’s/70’s. Somebody has already mentioned about the ROSS sign but it has got me thinking was there a RYDER sevice area somewhere in the U.K. . They were part of the RYDER TRUCK RENTAL GROUP who I think might of been American.

B.T.W. get well soon Bubbleman  .

Regards Steve.

A note to Annie’s Pride…now waiting for camera to go down throat in to stomach …… nowt to it mate, I’ve had it a couple of times, ask for the anaesthetic spray on the back of the throat, works a treat, quick swallow and down it goes. 2/3 minutes, all over. You can watch the screen while it’s having a look.

Already mentioned as Leicester Forest East. Opened by Ross Fish in 1966. It was known as MotoRoss

Rumour has it that if they carry out the motorway upgrade in 2017 they will demolish this services and move it closer to J20 Lutterworth where the land is already available.

Fortes. Scratchwood Services in 1969.

Blue Boar. Watford Gap 1959

Fortes. Newport Pagnell 1960

Is this Herbert Bolton of Huddersfield? - it’s a Huddersfield reg motor and they look like Hepworth pipes on the trailer. They used to run coal tippers as well I think and Rodney Bolton the son used to run tallows and fats in a tanker in the '70s and '80s. Rodney told me they (H. Boltons) had the first Scania (Vabis) in Huddersfield and drivers used to line up to drive it!
