hiya,
Asked on one of the threads a while back if anyone remembered a Scottish Highlands company going by the name Ffyfes of Forres (spelling) did’nt get any response, can’t remember what they ran but had green livery and nicely signwritten a la Scotland just wondering if you had heard of them Marc or maybe better still a picture it was a largish company and had plenty of stuff on the M74/M6.
thanks harry long retired.
Bubblemans photo of the T&M Catto Foden, I had one of that model for about 18 months, It was a lovely comfortable motor, 350 ■■■■■■■ and a Fuller range change. On top of it’s job and comfort as well. Happy days. It once took me the best part 2 days to get a pair of the wheels off one of the drive axles, (luckily I was in my home yard), they were Alco ally wheels and somebody had lathered copper grease on the wheel studs and somehow the ally and the steel and the copper grease had reacted and the bloody things were just about welded to the hub. Last resort was put a few wheeelnuts on , leave em a bit loose and take it for a run up the road for a few hundred yards, it worked. 1st. and only time I ran with loose wheelnuts.
I actually opened this thread because I saw the word “scrapbook” and I am definitely glad that I checked this out. These are some great photographs, guys. I used to scrapbook quite a bit many years back and I actually thought about getting back into it. One of the things I actually used to use in my crafts were pictures of vintage trucks, so consider me inspired. I haven’t fully looked at all of the pictures, but I noticed that all of these photographs were taken in different places. How about some terrain photographs? Are those available?
Hi again,Sorry Harry,I havent got any pics of Ffyffes mate, Again I 've no terrain pics(not quite sure what you mean…off road I suppose) On the road again.
Heres todays pics
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs,
Hi Bubs,

Hi Marc, good job as ever.
I have been given this foto by Alan White, whose father worked for International Synthetic Rubber (ISR) in Hythe Hampshire. He thought this vehicle was a regular visitor. The owner had an unusual name, especially as it was Cardiff based according to the logo on the door. May jog a few memories.

Whoever loaded that has done a ■■■■ fine job.
NZ JAMIE:
Great pics again Bubbs mate as per usual, thanks for the Evans’ Volvos I remember sitting in class at school and watching them head up the North Devon link road. I was far more interested in watching trucks go by than learning biology.
Know what you mean Jamie. Living in Weymouth and going to school that was beside the link road to Portland, and the quarries was heaven for me. I couldn’t wait to go to school the time they were extending it, and I could watch the local tippers come in and do their thing!
Bubbs, great pictures as usual. Nice to see the Dorchester Transport Volvo in Panda colours (on the A30?). I spent many a day wandering around their yard taking pictures, and someone I used to chat to on the CB drove one of the sister trucks to this.
And what a cracking truck the Sweeting Daf is, always loved their stuff.

That coiler of Cardiff Transport should have had a sheet over those well boards the Idle B****** would have got a right “telling off” if it had been one of our’s.Bloody dangerous to say the least I call it.Bewick.
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs,
That un-sheeted coiler of Cardiff Trans look well dodgy.Anyone of those well boards could fly off! I’d have given the Idle B****** a right “dressing down” if it had been one of our’s.Bewick.
Hi again, nice pic of the old Leyland Gazz mate,a proper lorry …Dennis,I had the same thoughts as you when I took the pic.
Hope these are of interest,
Cheers Bubbs,
Hi Marcus,
Some great images as usual containing some grafters.
The picture above reminds me of Pavilion Garage who were was based just off Market Street in Whitworth near Rochdale.
They used to run daily along the M62 betwen Manchester and Liverpool transporting scrap cars in the same way
Regards Paul

whatever happened to pavilion ■■ used to see them all the time running out of e.m.r yards on the scrap run you mentioned . i wonder if they were takien into the e.m.r fleet and no longer exist… blue scanias as i remember …
I remember Pavilion when they used to come thundering down Balliol Road in Bootle, running into the metal processors on the dock. I seem to recall that they ran 6x2 Mercs at the time (late 80s - early 90s). There was another firm with similarly liveried motors (Scanias) around the same period who ran out of Blackburn (not Martins) on the scrap too. I used to see them running home again empty when I was on my way into Liverpool most mornings.
nice to see Morgan’s Midnight Rambler, another fleet I photographed one Sunday, now sadly gone.
hi lads, took this photo last week on the A1 near belford, anyone know who owner is .
