the scania 81 was the first lorry i had. it was an artic stretched into a 4 wheeler tipper. dad ran it as an artic for 5 years then had a 111 . for some reason he wasnt impressed with the 111 always prefered the 81
I think this is an ex Jet Petroleum motor
NZ JAMIE:
Here’s a few that I took yesterday, hope they are of interest,we run at 44 tonne here and still have log books.
Not that many ERF’s around anymore.
Cheers Jamie
Some nice shots Jamie,i was out in the north island in early 1990 for 4 months,i have lots of family over there, remember seeing mc carthy trucks,i still have a truck magazine that i picked up over there.A cousin of mine got me a ride in an ERF stock truck got the photos, will have to scan them and put them on here, where abouts in the North island are you??
Hey mate,
I’m right at the bottom of the North Island in windy Wellington. These pics were taken on the other side of the harbour where the logs are strored before being exported to China or Japan.
Mcarthys are a fairly big outfit with about 70 logging trucks opperating out of three yards in the central and lower North Island. It’s not until you go out into the bush and see these trucks opperating that you realize how hard it is on the trucks and how skillfull the drivers are.
Here’s a few more for you.
Get you pics scanned and stick 'em up mate.
Hope you don’t mind but I thought this one could do with a bit of TLC

Hi Marc I bought nearly all of my LHD Scanias from Holland
Here is an ex Intrado 111
An ex Centropa 111
And another
Ex Vermeulen 141
And many more from the late Pim DeVries who worked for Alex Van Keulan a Scania dealer in Amersfoort
An ex Schavemaker 143
Not sure whose this was but a great finish on the paint
Same for this one had the pick of about 5 tractor units to choose from
And an old 141 we broke up
Hey,great pics Pat,heres a question for you mate, the 2 143s I put in my last post…how much do you think trucks like that would fetch in price?..I know you can only guess, surely their value is increasing nowadays, they’re becoming a collectors item now.
Bubbs,
I remember you helping us out in Poole when we were overweight, only a little bit honestly.
