it’s a long steel carrier - you still see a few old ones in france but they were more common in swiss due to strict regulations on length/overhang (amongst MANY other things :unamused: ) as they could carry tubes etc around 2m longer than a full width sleeper within the same maximum vehicle length

cracking photos yet again marcus, especially the swiss stuff

Hello again, did anyone notice in my last post there was left hand drive lorries, right hand drive ones and a centre hand drive one   …ok heres a few more Swiss ones .

Hope these are of interest.

Cheers Bubbs,

Great Pix Bubbs

Those RHD trucks are built to Swiss spec ; I believe 2.3M wide for going over the narrow mountain passes. The reason for the RHD is so that the driver can see the edge of the road -& the drop. Italians also had RHD for the same reason ,didn’t stop some of them falling over tho’.
I drove one of those narrow gutted F12’s in artic form . The turbo blew up going up the French side on La Junquarra hill. I braked & exited left . Spectacular ! Thick white smoke blocked out both sides of the autoroute. - lump of junk.

240 Gardner:

bubbleman:
Hello there, lets do AECs today

Imagine taking this thing anywhere remotely urban :astonished:

Perhaps the chap that spec’d it should have been chained to it for a week!

240 gardner… I’ve only just noticed this pic, alot of Coventry companies had 40 footers with the single axle right at the back, I was taught on one, Mortons (brs), Mousley’s, Halidays, all had them , used them on tractors and dumpers and we used to do London with them, my first load on an artic after passing my test was a load of dumpers from Gloucester to Halesowen and Telford with a KP 500 Dodge coupled to one.

hi lads, bubbs you keep turning up trumps with your photos, the dutch one’s are excellent, you could make an interesting calendar out of them, keep up the great work mate, bumper
