Scrapbook Memories from as far back as 1951. The quality of paper and photos then was a bit crude.

never seen an atki like that heavy one and love the load of sacks on the erf that was grafting for ya , great pics
I was sent this old clipping by a friend today. It’s one of my dad’s first 88’s and I never knew it had ever featured in an ad by Ailsa Trucks. I thought others here might like to see it. I sent it to my dad earlier and he recalled how the container in the pic was the first of a new design by Gray & Adams and was finished in unpainted aluminium. It went to the South of Italy on it’s 3rd or 4th trip out and the extreme heat caused the panels on the box to buckle. It had to be repaired and repainted in white upon it’s return to Blairgowrie to reflect the sun.
Great pictures thanks for sharing them, I like the Aussie Atki of Mayne Nicholas could be an Aussie built one. The ERF has a Willenhall cab and is beautifully loaded, but where are the pallets?
regards doublereduction.
A couple more oldies.
Them were the days eh lads, not a pallet or a t/liner in sight. Then you had to sheet it all.The thing was we took it all as part of the job but if there were a few of you loading [not necc. same firm] you always got a lift.Hard work but happy days.
regards dave.
Hello again,E.R.Fs today.
Hope these are ok.

The S Jones B-Series 6x2 still exists (along with it’s 8LXB) - it appears on rallies around the country pulling a step-frame usually loaded with another of their preserved vehicles.
Hi marc that picture of “Dodds” is comming out of the yard which was adjoining the BBC on Wood Lane as I worked for Jimmy for a bit trunking from Sheffield and we dropped paper work in there and sometimes picked trailers up out of there it was a bit tight sometimes as well.
cheers Johnnie

I think at that time it would have been a Preston-built machine, maybe shipped out as CKD.

Hope these are ok.
Wont be on for a few days lads.
Cheers Bubbs.
