I remember I fitted one of those ‘air deflectors’ to a Van Hee Transcon which run the night trunk and how totally useless it was, I might as well have built a brick wall on the cab or more to the point a sheet of cardboard as I think it lasted about the same amount of time. I suppose they thought they were ahead of the fuel saving game by putting something like that on, trouble was they didn’t tell the drivers to ease off the lead boots too. Franky.
On that iffy spoiler are a circle of British Rail emblems, I wonder why?
Happy New Year Marcus
Keep up posting those excellent cuttings in 2010
This must be the only place on the internet were you can find such rare and interesting material such as this well done

Thanks again Bubbs - you are amazing. I remember that TMH trailer well enough. When it was parked outside our house the neighbours used to come in and say it had a puncture - they could hear the hiss from that nitrogen freezer unit! The Guy is still a mystery though, it pre-dates the Merc 1418s that Philip Langdon bought to launch the continental operation at the end of '65. It even has yellow headlights! More power to your elbow (and your scanner) mate.
Hi again, thanks to Ozzie Anderson (private joke) for the new year greetings, same to you mate and everyone who looks in,Glad you liked the Guy intertype,I have more old TMH,Tone vale and Langdon pics but cant put 'um on the net, never mind.
Hope these are ok.
Cheers Bubbs.

Still enjoying this, looking forward to a New Year full of them!
That Mcpherson 2800 DAF must have been one of the very first of that model 1973.
John.

Yes I believe you are correct. HCA Malcolmson ran a 1973 2600 on an L plate

My word, Charter Roadways
In the days when B+I shared the Fleetwood-Dublin ship with Pandoro (the price for entry to Dublin port…) B+I was run entirely with subbies on traction, and Charter Roadways had several motors on full-time.
As I recall, they succumbed to significant legal issues… And that was when Beverley Bell still had pigtails and played hockey. I suppose you could say they were pioneers in running plain white motors, at least!

If IRCC they also did traction for Sea Route Ferry out of their Heywood Manchester Depot

The Newton & Ridley concept is interesting with the L10 and a twin splitter. that would throw a ■■■■■ amongst the doves if you were given that as a fresh faced agency driver

Only trouble with the L10/TwinSplit combo is would a Agency lad know what tunes to play on it and seeing as the L10 wasn’t one of Mr ■■■■■■■ best he had plenty time to read the manual while it was in the workshop, wonder why we never heard more of this mating! Franky.
