Dave the Renegade:
Hi Pat,
Cartwrights of Wolverhampton used to run those four in line trailers, they hauled sand to the South Wales Steelworks in the early sixties, there was a driver in Kington near where I live,he had a Dodge Kew tractor unit pulling one of those trailers as a tipper.
Cheers Dave.

Hi jonmea,
I looked back through your pics of Tonfanou, saw your Scania’s,when you posted them didn’t realise they were your moters.
Which Tywyn do you come from, the one near Tonfanau,or the one near Rhyl.
Cheers Dave.

Chris,
Theres a heavy haul B series for sale in the oct issue of classic and vintage commercials, its light blue long wheelbase with visor just like the pic, says one owner from new,but the reg looks different maybe LHH 92W??
They want 9 grand for it though! hope that helps.
Steve.
ainacs:
This was an Ernest Holmes Co recovery crane on an AEC with a Ford Thames Trader on the hook!!
Regards Pat
One of my first jobs when I left the army in1968 was doing motorway recovery based at Keele services.
We had a Diamond Tee wrecker with a Holmes 750 wrecking gear.To say it was versatile was an understatement. With the twin booms and winches, there were few jobs we couldn’t manage with the one vehicle.

Hi Harry and Dave,
Confusion over it is the Tywyn near Tonfanau,my confusion arose due to the fact that the two places are refered to as Towyn in some spellings. But just googled and the one is Towyn Gwynedd and the North Wales coast Towyn Conwy.
Cheers Dave

Its very possible that could be an ex-Leicster motor, as they had a lot of LHH plates over the year’s. perhaps NUT177W was re-reg’d with that number. Cheers for that vw, ill have a look at that.
Hello again, just looked at my copy of Classic commercials and the old ERF for sale, I’d put money on it that its NUT off of Leics H H.
Ok back to the thread…
Hope these are of interest.
Cheers Bubbs.
