Hello lads, good feedback from the last pics…thanks.
First pics for Steve (mushrooman)
The A-One pic should keep a couple on here happy, the F7 tipper has appeared on the scrapbook before but this pic has a bit of writing on it.
Cheers Bubbs.
Marc,
Great pics once again, been routing in the loft today after the holiday stuff for a few weeks time and got side tracked as usual, looking through boxes and came across these. When in my teens I wrote to all of the American truck manufactures asking them if they would send me info, brochures, spec sheets etc.
Although I didn’t think that I woulkd receive anything back, I was very suprised, they all sent me quite a lot of stuff, brochures, posters even a baseball cap from Kenworth. Unfortunately, like most of my old stuff it as disappeared over the years, this is all that is left - wish I had more.
Hope these are of interest
Regards
Ant

Funny Marc should post a photo of Hardings, I was only thinking about them the other day and wondering if they are still operating - Does anybody know if they are and if not, what happened to them ■■? Used to see them alot when running down to the south west.

Ant

And I bet Mrs Bubble still isn’t impressed!
hiya,
well done Marc some record eh, liked the pics of the tilts never liked pulling them though, i always seemed to get strip downs and that was hard work the covers weighed a ton, Marc it’s nice to see someone refer to HGVs as lorries, i was in my early career a wagon driver later that changed to lorry driver usually prefixed with “long distance” was never a trucker i hate that title, here’s to the next milestone mate cheers.
thanks harry long retired.
Love the “spray suppression” kit on those trailers.
How come we used to be able to manage with a single mudflap unlike all the gubbins that is fitted nowadays !!
Hi Marc, I can only vaguely remember using Maidendown Stage about once I preferred Morgans. In the 70’s & 80’s they produced one of the best breakfasts in the country.
Someone commented on the container side-loader-Pentalvers in Southampton have a couple of brand new ones just like that, still looking just as odd They use them to move boxes on and off the trains straight on to trucks.
Re- Hardings - I cant remember which Hardings Marc recently posted but Hardings of Avonmouth (Ships Stores) and J.R. Hardings of Frome are both still trading.
Gavin

Can’t argue with that

This is one of the very first Mk.2 Silver Knights, and I think this will be the Kelvin Hall Show of 1967 where the Mk.2 was first announced. This one still has the radiator filler on the front, on top of the dummy radiator. (And they hadn’t learned in time for the Show how to put the wiper arms on straight!)

It’s a typographical error in the original clip - DTD was registered in 1957. I’m guessing that the picture was taken around 1966-67 - judging by the buildings in the background as the wagon was in the gatehole waiting to leave.
hiya,
Marky thought the cab was late 50s drove one short term in the early 60s never looked at the reg just thought it had been re-shedded at some time.
thanks harry long retired.
