That BOCM Silcocks wagon just about gave me a heart attack remembering what they used to be like - 20 ton handballs of carbon black, fights with the shop stewards about getting another man up on the trailer, coming out looking like a miner. Happy days?
Great pics of the Ford Ds too - some of them could really fly. Anyone remember Romeo Transport London - big Ford Ds, horrible maroon and lemon colour scheme, but they went like s**t off a shovel. Got a feeling the drivers were never short of imagination when it came to logbooks as well…

You drove it overland to Afghanistan a year and a half ago■■?
How on earth did you manage that then, which way did you go and where abouts in Afgahnistahn did you go to??
Did you drive it back or sell / scrap it? Must have been some well dodgy journey!!

sorry to clutter up the (ever brilliant) thread, i seem to remember Robert Armstrongs featuring in Truck or T&D with an F7 tanker collecting wine around France - can anyone tell me what issue or even year it was please?
We went via Turkey to Bazargan then down Iran to Dogurun which is border to Afghanistan just before Islam Quala , left trucks in customs and bus back to Dogabyzit Turkey then fly to Istambul then home 18 days all in.Have some pictures of another trip but havent figured out how to load em .

some pictures of an overland to aghanistan , old malc pulled over to the side of the road and it gave way ,nearly lost the lot , truck was lifted out a few hours later for a fee 400 euro!!! this was past Ezurum on the way to Gurbalak.

jj72… whats the chances of finding an article about a US firm called Poole Truckline from Evergreen Alabama, it ran over 3 issues in 1977 or 78, they ran Green and White Transtars. not trying to hijack the thread here bubs, just that jj said he had all issuses.
