hi bubbs some great pics again BSC Orb had several of those rear steer Atkinsons ,and Pritchard Bros hauled loads of those bikes ,the factory was in Pontypool and they later relocated thier ,regards Keith

Hi Keith.
Were the wagons out of Orb Works known as Monmouthshire Transport or was that earlier? Those 3 axled Atkis had what looked like stencilled number plates IIRC.

Hi Chris ,yes indeed Monmouthshire Transport was earlier con not remember the exact date ,but they were running Leyland Octopus and Albion Aberdonian 8 rigids .
Those Atkis did have stencilled plates they had about 30 of them ,many on Scottish work ,regards Keith

Hello bubbs …and thank you for for those S Wales pics …and in particular Gwynn Bowen …my Dad was well made up !! …and he says that 690 ATX was a Commercial motor show exhibit and believed to be the first lorry in S Wales to have a Gardner 6LX engine…those Fodens which appear to have 45 gallon drums were hauled back from Van Leer on the Wirral to the 3M factory at Gorseinon and to the former Llandarcy refinery …many thanks again bubbs …Geraint

I bet the two drivers who got the S80s would have felt like king of the castle after coming off an old s36/39.No more smashed knuckles, heatstroke or frostbite :smiley: , and a radio that you could actually hear
