Early retirement Bubbs? You don’t look a day over 30 - at least you didn’t at Gaydon in the dark… :open_mouth:

My Dads company, S.M. Trucking.Ltd I don’t suppose any of you Lads have any more photos or Motorway Spotting photos of any of them? Thanks.

Happy New Year everyone,I had to look for the thread…page 5,lets get it back on page 1,Cheers Bubbs

Hiya,
And the same to you Bubbs lovely to see you back posting on this thread which you
set off all that time ago and in my opinion the best look-see and read on Trucknet.

Hiya,Heres a few more old cuttings,an old AEC for Harry starts this bunch,Cheers Bubbs,

Evening Bubbs.

Recognise that DAF as there was an article in Truck magazine.

Hiya again, yep Dean that was the Truck mag that provided the cutting in the last post by me,heres a few for today…a back breaking load on the Leyland in the first pic,Cheers Bubbs,

Hiya again,Thanks to Dean for the pic of the Danish Bacon Albion, the first pic of todays bunch shows a few more,Dennis …I’m slowly going through old mags so hopefully I can share the cuttings for a little while, hopefully there will be a few that bring back some memories of yesteryear.Nice shot of Grandads Atki jaymus, thanks for sharing it.Cheers Bubbs,

The Thos. Guy Atki is a Silver Knight and not as stated a Borderer. The Silver Knight was basically a 9ft 6" WB Mk1 chassis fitted with what would become the early Borderer cab. When the Borderer was launched in 1970? it was an all new 10ft 8" WB later Borderers in later '72 had what was referred to as the peak cab. Cheers Bewick.

The Atlas Express pic reminded me of this odd clipping.

With regard to the last pic of the 113 with “380” on the grill. I cant remember them offering a 380 on the 113 or have i lost the plot ? :unamused:

From memory the 113 was 320 or 360 bhp ■■

Hi again,Well spotted Dennis, certainly a bad caption and to have it printed in a magazine was a no no,someone should’ve had a kick up the dirtbox for that one!!..nice pic of an Atlast Express from Dean, nowadays a lorry theft is just given a crime number!..Ok todays stuff, first off is a Maudsley for Harry Gill who drove one and a North East reg number as a bonus and a bit further down is an F88 in trouble at the end of Jubilee way in Dover,Cheers Bubbs.

Great shots Bubbs and that one of the F B Atkins AEC MM will have Larry D reaching for his boots and boiler suit it will be just up Larry’s street getting behind the wheel of that fine beast but I’m not too sure about the handball load though !!  Cheers Dennis.

Nice roped and sheeted load on the Ritchie Marathon too and a smart unit. EN Ritchie always had well turned out motors and still has some restored examples doing the shows. Van Hee had one of Ritchies old Foden Fleetmaster tractor EYR 23V as a yard shunter and for taking trailers for test, it still went well for its age. Here is a pic and another of the Marathon and some info from the excellent book about Ritchies by Bob Tuck. Franky
