Hiya,
Nice to see you Marc, I’m currently working my way through “Scrapbook”
looking for a picture you put on of a Bowker lorry (Atki pulling a tilt) I
at the time exclaimed I thought it was myself driving the lorry it was
certainly my allocated motor, the granddaughter wants to see what her
granda used to drive and as you know I never did any pictorial recording
of my driving years and now it’s too late, keep well good buddy.
thanks harry, long retired.

hiya,
No that was way after my time mine was a 1965 borderer with a 220 ■■■■■■■
in her and there wasn’t anything in the yard until the Scania’s started to arrive
that could live with it, the other lads Guesty include called it the powerhouse
had to swap it for a Scania 80 and that was a heap of rubbish compared to the
old Atki in fact I jacked rather than drive it.

hiya,
Thanks Marc drove several of the Atki’s at different times yes including that 80 thing
but the one I’m looking for isn’t listed it was a “C” reg the only one with the ■■■■■■■
engine you did actually put a pic on featuring the motor and I made a statement that
I was quite possibly driving it in a motorway scene, there was a flysheet over the tilt
which I remember putting on before taking it to Dover, seemingly it had rained in so
was sheeted to prevent further damage.

CBV 311C is the one you’re looking for, Harry, I think? It’s a Peter Davies photo, with the flysheet over the tilt.

Just found this site will now be glued to it I love the pictures but feel very sad when I see all the firms that have long gone today’s drivers will never feel about the trucks as us old drivers felt I started 1963driving but o thought the 70s was the golden age I done continental work then and it’s wonderful to see pictures of the old firms plus union cartage ,Bulwark who I worked for, them days most drivers where characters most really good guys we will never see the likes of again.really really we’ll done for this site please keep them coming can’t get enough

Hiya lads, welcome to the thread Dexterboy…glad you’re enjoying the old pictures, heres a few more clippings from around 10 years ago,Cheers Bubbs,

A Bulwark Seddon Diesel with a tipping tank alongside one of Riding’s Atki’s hauling a brand new Crane-Fruehauf 1450 cubic foot non tipping tandem axle powder tankers show the complete different approach to the job at that time.
