I always chuckle when I see a photo of a 2200 Daf - before I started for Andrews I would be out in their lorries all the time with my mate, John. He always used to have the pleasure of the oldest lorry and at the time in question was driving an early 86…We arrived back in the yard one friday evening and there was a 2200 demo sat there. The boss told John to take it for a couple of days and see what he thought - starting on Saturday.
Saturday morning arrived and we had a long un - a load of concrete pipes to near Milton Keynes! Off we go, John struggling with the ZF(?) box a bit because he was driving it like the 86 ie too slow. Hardenhuish Hill in Chippenham loomed and by now John was getting really riled and I was learning lots and lots of new words…
Strangely enough, we came to a shuddering stop right on the steep part of the hill with John cursing away like a good un…how he never snapped off that great long gear lever I will never know! He was desperately stirring it around looking for a gear to no avail… at that exact moment, Woodfords six wheeler ERF bulker roared by, horn blowing and the driver laughing his head off and waving  I thought John was going to burst… :open_mouth:

Happy days

Thankfully the boss bought an ERF B series…

Just a thought - does anyone remember Woodfords bulk grain tippers? I recall they were from Devizes way -definitely Wiltshire - and were red/orange colour. I can remember the six wheeler and an artic LV ERF but I’m not sure how many more they had…

Hi Bubbleman,

just wondering if you knew who the DAF with windscreen mesh and roof protection was used by

+1, deffo Volvo sleeper,i had an FL6 brand new H reg

however,i would say BigRigs roof spoiler isnt a Volvo product (maybe)

Hi again lads,Gritterman …the Daf with the mesh on the windscreen and the double skinned roof was Dafs attempt at making a truck suitable for the middle-east run,it also featured a kitchen and all sorts of extras to make the journey a bit more comfortable…it was marketed as the “Supercontinental”.
Paul (pistonbroke)…heres a shot of Woodfords ERF after the firm had been taken over by Syms of Calne,I’ve a shot of the 6 wheel bulker somewhere :unamused: in the mess I call my collection.
Heres todays stuff,Cheers Bubbs,
